I was in Charleston, SC visiting a friend of mine last weekend who works at the Citadel, and this was at this seafood restaurant Downtown called "Hyman's." They put this in the bathroom and on little cards at the table, and I found it rather good.
"We hire our staff based on this motto."
"The longer I live, the more I realize te impact of attitude on life. Attitude, to me, is more important than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than importance, giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string, we have, and that is our attitude...I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. And so it is with you...we are in charge of our ATTITUDES. Author of "Attitude" Chuck Swindoll."
I just really liked it and its theme still applies, in fact I just realized that it really applies to something I overreacted to on Wednesday. In hindsight, what actually happened was really no big deal at all...and yet I blew up and was mad, upset, pissed, etc...and I think I hurt someone with it. So...here endeth the lesson...
