Hope everybody had a lovely bank holiday weekend. I feel like we managed to pack a lot in. On Saturday night we went to a little wrestling show being held in a church hall only a brief train ride away. We got to see some wrestlers that we know from our regular London shows perform and some we’ve heard of but never seen perform and some completely new to us. It was very much an old school British style show - there were loads of kids there having a great time as well as wrestling fans our age who we chatted to. Much to our amusement, a chap arrived with a takeaway pizza, sat in front of us and sipped Jack Daniels out of a bottle he hid in his backpack. He seemed happy enough lol. It was really fun and silly and we’ll try to go to the show happening in July because there’ll be some performers we know and love there. I’ve gotta stop writing messages to wrestlers on Facebook. I need to be more like Anthony who just shakes their hand, says hi and that’s it lol. I don’t wanna freak the wrestlers out, you know, and I feel like I might be doing that lol. What can I say, I platonically adore them and kinda want them to know that.
On Sunday we went to some friends’ house for a BBQ dinner in celebration of a birthday. We don’t get to see them often and their two young kids were full of overexcited energy and dashed around everywhere. The family also have three hens - for all the lovely eggs - and an enormous rabbit who had free reign of the back garden. We had delicious burgers etc cooked on the BBQ and lovely chocolate birthday cake of course. It was marvellous to catch up with them.
Monday, we went to the cinema to see The Avengers: Age of Ultron. I’m still absorbing the film and trying to work out what I feel about certain parts of it but I do advise people to see it. It’s great fun with some really wonderful moments. Seriously. Check it out. Anthony and I went with a friend of ours, it was quite a packed cinema and a really fun atmosphere to watch in, even if a few younger viewers kept dashing off for the bathroom, giggling as they went and came back. Also a little boy lost his Dad so the ushers had to shout from the entrance about it. Afterwards, we had dinner at the friend’s house. She’s veggie and made veggie pancakes, well made the batter and we could make the pancakes ourselves on the hotplate and then add fillings to melt. A really fun smart way to do a dinner party. We discussed much fandom fun for so many hours - Anthony is very tolerant - and watched some wrestling on DVD together too. Overall, I feel like it was a very enjoyable social weekend and I’m glad of it.
