It is so cold here at the moment. So cold in fact that we're having trouble getting into our building! Last night, neither Anthony nor I could get our keys to turn in the lock of the outside door, an immensely frustrating experience. It's been stiffer than usual recently but this is just impossible. I'm going to email the people who look after the building and implore them for help. If a fellow resident hadn't been entering the building a little after us, we wouldn't have gotten in. Thankfully, they'd developed a sort of jiggling technique that works for them but we certainly couldn't get it to work. I dread to think what's going to happen after church tonight.
Before all of that, we had a good full day yesterday. Anthony and I went to Basingstoke to visit friends of ours, a married couple who were hosting a board games afternoon to celebrate one of their birthdays. There was piles of homemade chilli and nachos, vegetable sticks and dips, and lovely homemade cake. We stuffed ourselves, played Kinnect sports games - I turned out to be pretty good at the bowling - and then battled through the rather complicated Firefly board game. It was good to see our friends and meet up with a few others who were also there. It was a really fun afternoon.
Then I went with Anthony to the ice hockey, the first time I've been in about two years because I realised that I liked having my Saturdays free for writing while Anthony is out lol. But I haven't been for ages and it'd be a chance to catch up with a couple of amazing fandom friends who are regular hockey fans and who are amazing fangirls who I've met through Anthony and love their company. The game wasn't brilliant but the atmosphere was fun and I had a lovely fangirl catch-up and cheerleading session, encouraging each other in our fan writings. The last time I went I was pretty sick so it was good to be there and not feel just awful lol. It's a good night out, very good for families I think especially, something different and energetic and that's to be encouraged. I wore five layers of clothing to cope with the cold, it really was terrible. Anthony couldn't feel the toes on one foot by the end of it!
