Oh, this was lovely. Even through all the pain and tiredness, I got a sense of faint hope and rest for the beat up Team Free Will. I loved the underlying strength of Castiel's faith - in the Winchesters, in his mission, and in his brother.
I would love to read a follow-up more focused on Sam and Gabriel (they're my fav couple) and what's going on inside Gabriel's head.

Thank you for such a lovely comment. I always like writing Team Free Will, as I think Gabriel has such great interactions with all of the others. I wish we'd gotten to see more of him interacting with Castiel, it's such an interesting brotherly relationship. Glad you liked it so much. No plans for a sequel I'm afraid, I have way too many other fics demanding my attention :S

Sorry for not reading and commenting sooner. As usual, I'm really impressed by how well you write Gabriel -- and the Supernatural universe in general! :-D I think my favourite thing about this story is the interaction between Gabriel and Castiel. I found it touching that Gabriel couldn't help being concerned about Castiel, and that Castiel reached out to Gabriel with what little was left of his grace. I think this is also a classic example of showing rather than telling as you provide wonderful details, such as the handprints that "someone" had pressed so hard against the panic room door that it had started to melt. Very nicely done!

I'm really glad you liked this one, it's one that's been buried on my hard drive since season 5 was airing. I'm on a jag, determined to get my old Supernatural stuff posted at last. This one was fun to revisit as I love writing Cas and Gabriel interacting as they basically never got to on the show except for a couple of very brief exchanges of dialogue which really intrigued me. It means a lot that you read my stuff and that you enjoy it *hugs* thanks so much :) <3
