35 years strong :)
Today, my parents celebrate 35 years of marriage. That is pretty frickin' awesome :)
I only realised how rare my parents were when I went to university and many people there had unhappy parents or divorced ones. Mine, somehow, have managed to stay in love and together. They've taken a few days off this week, to go to Devon for a little holiday together in celebration of their wedding anniversary. They deserve the time away.
I'm ridiculously proud of them both and love them so very much. They've worked hard at their marriage and it shouldn't really work as well as it does, because they are rather opposite personalities but luckily share enough traits and likes in common. It's inspiring to see and it never fails to make me smile. My Dad often jokes that my Mother's the most beautiful woman in the world...and he's off to get his eyes checked tomorrow. They're a silly hard-working pair and I adore them, even when I find my Father particularly frustrating. We are so alike sometimes, our similar flaws madden us both to distraction.
So here's to many more years together, Mum and Dad. You are badasses to have kept this relationship on the up and up. And I couldn't be prouder of you or more thrilled for you :) <3
