Fic Recs - Sherlock, John/Sherlock
So series 2 of Sherlock is over. In order to deal with the brilliant but bleak and heartbreaking finale episode, I have been burying myself in happy Sherlock fic. So I thought I'd share them. This list will be exclusively John/Sherlock fics. I'll be doing lists of other pairings and genres in the fandom at some point later. Hope you all enjoy. Spoilers for 'A Scandal in Belgravia' It's not just Sherlock who rescues Irene. What it leads to is unexpected too.
A truly wonderful John/Sherlock first time story. Also a great way to redo the ending of ASiB. This is really hot and what I really wanted to happen after the episode ended. So I guess its kind of a fix-it. This could so fit into the series. The characters are nailed perfectly, including Irene.

Sherlock/John as Beauty and the Beast.
This is dark and so beautiful. Of course Sherlock is the Beast and this also has John's army unit, Soo Lin and Sally. The sense of how John changes Sherlock is really perfect and John realising he's falling in love too. It feels like a perfect dark fairytale, with an appropriately hopeful ending.
Senza Catene by madlorific
Sherlock has a secret hobby. One night John follows him to find out what his flat mate is up to and gets the surprise of his life.
Sherlock sings! John is shocked and moved! There are confessions of love from unexpected quarters! This is a deliciousy wonderfully happy getting-together fic that left me with a huge smile on my face. Highly recommended.

Sherlock and John are BNFs in Sherlock Holmes fandom. Together, they fight crime. (Always.) And write porn, incidentally.
One of the most enjoyable fics I've ever read. I literally cannot get enough of this. Set out as LJ entries, discover how the Sherlock characters interact as fandom friends, how Sherlock and John get together through such interactions, and how Moriarity causes trouble and is dealt with. If you read any fics on this list, read this one. I implore you.

AU Sherlock is a jeweller. John comes in to buy a gift for his sister. Of course they bond and make a date.
Sherlock gets to a be a smartarse and finds himself wonderfully intrigued by John. A great reinterpretation of how they met and demonstrates yet again that no matter where they work, they'll always be drawn to each other. Lovely and warming.

AU In which Sir John of Fief Watson (aka Mad John) becomes Sir John of newly-created kind-of-a-Fief Baker Street and meets the demigod of insanity via divine intervention-slash-matchmakerness. Together they fight crime, and people explode!
A fabulous lush AU. It's a crossover with Tamora Pierce's Tortall universe but I haven't read that and this fic still works fine for me. Yay for two strange lost people finding something together. Plus I love the backstory for Sherlock and Mycroft and their mother, so heartbreaking. This story feels mystical and ancient with great turns of phrase.
PWP Means Porn With Perspicacity, Or: The Unfurling Scrolls of Fate by woe_in_a_hoodie
Sherlock writes porn for a purpose. John does, too (for different reasons). 100% meta-fandom-crack-slash.
Sherlock becomes a fanfic writer as part of research for a case. It's as awesomely hilarious as it sounds. Plus Harry gets to be kickass and John realises how Sherlock feels about him. Seriously fun giddy stuff.
Winter's Delights by kate_lear
Sherlock takes John home to meet the extended Holmes family.
One of my favourite ever fics in this fandom. The author creates an amazing Holmes family, so diverse and each character is so fully realised. Plus John and Sherlock's getting-together is built towards beautifully and is just so smile inducing. And Sherlock's leering cousin is great fun. I come back to this fic again and again.

John knew something was terribly, deeply wrong when he came back to the flat and found that Sherlock had made dinner.
This one had me laughing out loud. Sherlock attempts to telegraph his feelings via cooking. John catches on and they banter marvellously through sex. Also contains brilliant dialogue about trifle. This really gets the humour of the show down perfectly. I can imagine the words being said on the series. Utter delightful fun.

John runs a knitwear shop. Sherlock needs a present for Mummy. It's love.
A wonderful AU. Mycroft is fabulously underhanded in this too so there's great Sherlock & Mycroft moments. The partnership is such fun in this and I really love the epilogue. This is so warm and really gets the energy between them and how good they are for each other.
