road legal rally cars are not something you buy if you want good gas mileage.

exactly. if you want fuel economy, but an old diesel Jetta. STi's are for hauling ass.

actually, i've got one more comment:

more power, more torque, better fuel economy. Faster, too.

I'm done now. I now return you to your world of four bangers.

1: fuel economy is marginally better. splitting hairs here.
2. for double the price, the Vette better be faster.
3. When it starts snowing, do you want to take the vette out?

I like the vette. its fantastic. I think its a little old fashioned, what with its leaf sprung rear end and all, but hey, it seems to work.

the thing is, the STi is a sedan first, and a fast car second. so as such its very comfortable, it has a long travel suspension that nicely absorbs road irregularities. i know the vette can be pretty punishing around town.

as a go-fast car, the vette is incredible, and for a track day weekend warrior, great value for what you get.

but getting to and from work in the rain, snow, traffic, maybe a light offroad camping trip or two, going up to whistler to go skiing in January... the STi just does the simple stuff better.
