So, I got the tattoo done on Monday. It came out incredibly awesome.
The tattoo artist was Cyco Mike at Angry Moon Tattoo on the South Side of Pittsburgh. He did an incredibly job, really seemed to get into and enjoy doing the tattoo, and he didn't charge me an arm and a leg! Doing Alex's name in the blocks was all his idea, and I thought it was perfect. You can see really well in that last picture that he put Alex's handprint on the lion -- that came from a Valentine's Day card that my brother and s-i-l sent me from Alex. They always signed cards from him with his hand print. And "He Roared"...I must give credit where it is due. My darling Inigo came up with that, and it's absolutely perfect. I had told Cyco about Alex's roaring when we asked him what the lion says, and he loved it. The whole time he was coloring in the letters, he was roaring just like I told him Alex did! It was really cute.
Thank you so much to the mi.netters and others who gathered money together for me. I would not have been able to get this done for quite a while without your help, and it really means a lot to me to have it. It ended up that I got it done on exactly a month since Alex passed away, and it felt like a really good thing to do on that day.
I'm sorry I haven't been around lately. Things have been...well, I can talk about Alex without crying now, but things have been difficult. I've kind of just retreated, which may not be the best thing for me to do, but, well, it's what I know how to do. I've been playing a lot of World of Warcraft, which is nice escapism. It's pretty addictive, which is bad, but it really takes my mind off things, which is good.
Anyway, I hope you all are well, and I'm going to try to check in on life here more often.
