Long time, no post.
It's probably time to change my profile pic here too, but I want to lose some weight first.
So, what's been happening? Another band concert coming up in a week. A christmas carols thing that the band does with the melbourne gay and lesbian corus every year. It'll be pretty cool so ping me for details.
I got myself a martian fighting machine (from Jeff Waynes 70's musical version of "War of the Worlds") usb stick:
Missing it's iconic tripod legs though.
Anyway, Rachael and I have finally moved into a bigger house. It's pretty awesome, and William now has his own room which took him all of an hour to trash. Kids......
Rachael got me a present a few months ago:
She got me the sequel as well, with even more projects. Some include : Rail guns, EMP generator, a multitude of lasers (some highly illegal, and could kill you), tesla coils, plasma cutters, etc. Some of these use lethal amounts of voltage, and some of them could kill a person. The high powered rail gun in the book actually fires a 100gm aluminium ring at ballistic velocities, and in a video demonstration of their's it actually vaporises it's target (not sure what it was, I haven't seen the video). Awesome!
Well, my first project is the Plasma Light Saber.
A reletively benign toy that uses a plasma tube (think plasma ball) made to look like it's extending. Also awesome. I have most of the electronics for it and need to get the housing and the tube. I'll post a photo blog of it when I'm finished, as well as a video of it working, assuming it does.
