You reach certain pinnacle moments in your life when you finally understand why certain things happened, why you are a such and such way, and where to go next on your path just finds you before you can find it. It is like you created this momentum and this is when things get interesting, you begin to fly in your dreams. I have this mind that retains so many crazy facts, memories, and in a day just gathers certain information. My imagination tends to create this story featuring all these facts, and intimately relates each as a working part in my world . And then it becomes part of the bigger story, the story that needs to be told. This is the time. I then see angled shots, a room becomes this fourth dimensional contained space to control, with lights, and then faces, and then emotions, all elevating in the heat of the moment to a conscious realization. Where the big story becomes a bit clearer. I find this time in existence brilliant, and such a climax unfolding, and to show one, maybe a hundred and one of the lives lived during this time, born of imagination or happening on the other side of this planet, is the way to fulfill mine.
Calgary was my home for the last four years, and birth city of a lot of my inner world and creativity. I found myself performing spoken word at art shows, amongst friends creating music electronically or live in bands, out at night with graffiti artists, writing rhymes with friends, dancing for a visual art backgrounds to be played behind dj's at parties, and then actually putting together parties bringing all these elements together. I had the chance to be absorbed into a friend of mines work, on my often trips to Vancouver, learning about cameras, lenses, photo shoots, the Mac system, editing, and the art of living.
I am both gifted and cursed with high energy, insight, vision, the mystical mania surrounding my world, and the ability to make others understand a piece of it thru my action and words. When I speak of something I have thought or opinion on, when asked to elaborate, I shine. I can always back up one solid idea, that I tend to speak of in metaphors, with a labyrinth of brain work behind it. My artistic ways tend to be somewhat held back by my scientific mind, as opposed to seeing the beautiful colors that equation has brought. This imagination in color, is where I can definitely improve, which could easily be enticed by collaborating with other artist who are more visual thinkers.
I want to gain knowledge of the film industry altogether, learn editing techniques and programs such as Final Cut Pro, learn to bring all the elements of story telling together to clearly communicate the common human threads, and invoke my imagination and hidden talents. I want to experience all that I can in the Film Industry and in my time at the school by fully submerging myself within this culture within a culture. This program not only goes into cinematography, directing, producing, post-production, and design, but scriptwriting which I also am very interested in. I feel as a person new to understanding this business, yet a natural passion and pull to it, to take the Film Production corse will allow me to delve into all Film aspects to discover my strengths in it.
