It's 2:43 am and I have to get up for work at 6. I couldn't get into bed though, because I started playing with my recording software. In a few short hours I whipped up this song, whose title I still can't decide on. I kinda based it on a scenario Amanda was telling me about in one of her typical dreams.
Soul at Large The words:
She was shopping Friday, When God appeared to her
He sayth: "I've had enough, come on decide here who you like the best."
The Devil standing next to him stepped in "I know who she prefers
She likes me more; if you can't see that let's put this girl to the test."
The Demon took her out, but she wasn't too impressed that night;
They went to dance, to fancy dinner, to eat and bump and grind.
The Lord dressed up in tacky white and treated her to tunes
But Christian rock, despite the pot, left her unamused.
Satan brought her Disneyland, she got sick on the rides;
God showed her the Sistene Chapel; she said it looked alright.
Come Heaven, Hell, or the morning you've got to still decide
If the pure above or lure down low leaves you with a better life
Come on baby make a choice, the dieties in charge
Don't quite know you'll go; your soul is still at large.
She woke up Sunday morning thinking, Time to go to mass,
God's been hanging over me, He's watching, I'd better go.
But Satan, sleeping next to her, somehow held her fast.
She fell asleep again, at noon woke up and put on clothes.
God met her downstairs, He'd made her breakfast to win her heart.
She thanked Him with arayer and ate the cornflakes that He'd poured.
The Devil fetched her paper, he stole it from the quickie mart
Both were eager, both were sure she'd choose him as her Lord.
Come Heaven, Hell, or Monday morning you've got to still decide
If the pure above or lure down low leaves you a better life
By evening she was tired of attention from these two
She made up her mind: "I'm choosing Buddha; he's less intrusive than either of you."
Come Heaven, Hell, or Monday morning you've got to still decide
If the pure above or lure down low leaves you a better life
Come on baby make a choice, the dieties in charge
Don't quite know you'll go; your soul is still at large
Anyways, I had promised a comic originally, but...meh. This is much better; a sample of my performance ability late on Monday night. Pardon the quality of the vocals; I only did one take since I didn't want to subject my family to more of my squealing than necessary. Oh yeah, and I missed a lot of clipping in the recording when it got made into an mp3. Hm. I'll have to do something about all this sometime. Ah well.
Constructively critisize me please! And I need a gooder title for it too in case I decide to ever really use the song.
