Matt and I had a great, relaxing weekend. With his new rotations in Detroit, he is at home every few weekends which is nice because we get to spend some time together.
Friday night was the Boo Bash (game night at school). It went great- about 14 of my kids showed up to see me (pics coming soon). Leslie, Jen and I were working a game in my classroom and Matt showed up and suprised us all! We went out to Screwie Lewie's after and enjoyed nachos and $5 pitchers of beer while watching the final Tiger's game.
Yesterday we met up with Ace, Alexis, Doc, Theresa and Noah and went out to Doc's for some food and drinks. I realize how incredibly lucky I am to have a bond with my friends that time and distance does not diminish. We hung out around the apartment after, watching football and just catching up- and I realized how much I miss just hanging out with the college crew. It was really comforting.
Today Matt and I worked out, then went to Trader Joe's and got a bunch of ingredients for a gourmet breakfast- fresh bread, pumpkin butter, pomogranate juice, turkey bacon... then we to the Coffee Beanery for some caffine and the Northville Cider Mill for doughnuts, cider and fudge. We had a feast, and I am about to lapse into a food coma!
So now I am drinking tea, deciding what to do for the day. We put a roast and a bunch of veggies in the crock pot, and I think I am going to make homemade straberry shortcake... this will be the day of food and laziness. Do I really feel like EMU work? Nah... I will probably take a walk around the lake, feed the ducks, maybe use my new dead sea hand repair kit that my Mom bought me and my new OPI nailpolish.
The engagement pics got cancelled today- Mill Race Village was reserved for the day and with the high wind my hair would not stand a chance. Hopefully next weekend will work out better- I am anxious to get these pics taken and developed (I know I have all the time in the world but I am still jsut excited to get this part of our wedding planning done!). I am ok with the fact it was cancelled- more time for me to be lazy Katie.
Maybe I will eat some more of the 6 pounds of candy I bought for trick or treaters (ahem- I mean, myself...)
Enjoy the sunshine everyone- and if you feel like hanging out next weekend at State on Saturday (Crunchy's before the game!) let me know!
Happy Halloween!
