Damn i'm missing the beast.  I get the torture of looking at her every day when we park the MX5 in the car park.  She's been sat a while now, no insurance and getting slowly caked in dust.  The battery will be flat now, but I did jump start her the other week and warm her up and take her for a spin round the car park just so things don't start seizing up.  She's not got much petrol in her, so I can see myself having to put a gallon in from a can at some point in the winter.  She still smells great, something that bizarrely has been a feature of my favourite cars - my old Pug 205 GTi had a gorgeous smell too.  Once she'd warmed up I gave her a few good blips of the throttle, something that makes her backfire with a loud pop when you hit 8000rpm then let off the throttle.  Everything about that car is infectious - the beauty of it, the sound of air being sucked in through its intake, the sound of the sequential twin turbos, the loud sneeze of the dump valve, the unique rotary power, the pops, and that two stroke smell of petrol and oil burning from the exhaust.  All dressed up and nowhere to go :(
