Ok. Finally updating a week later. Last week I started work at Broadway.com/Theatre Direct International in the Fulfillment Department. Basically, I do a run to the downtown or uptown box offices once a day (usually downtown) and I help carry out ticket orders, do breakout (it's a sorting process) and generally help make things happen. I'm also one of the last hands to touch material before it goes out to people so that's a little daunting. I'm really enjoying the people I work with and the environment. I always like to be on the pulse of what's happening in theatre and I really feel like I'm sitting right on it with my new job. People just know what's happening both on Broadway and Off and that is really fun. It can make for good comedy too. Very little negativity also always makes things enjoyable when most people are sitting there with theatre degrees. So yes, we're going to get invited to free shows by the different theatres soon as the new season really gets rolling this fall and I'm going to be getting full medical benefits soon.
It is a great job to have as actor too because I don't start until noon. The option to audition or sleep if need be, makes it work out and my bosses are really flexible with people leaving with advance warning. Life is good on that front. I really want to take some time and get back with voice and dance classes and the whole shibang.
I think we get a new person Patrick in the office tomorrow (the final new hire in our department). I'm going to family friend Tim and Kyle's for dinner tonight. I love gay men who cook for me. Haha. I will also post my thoughts on the pretty terrible "Grease" revival soon which I chose to get standing room for - which was a damn bright idea.
Enjoy Labor Day! I will be at work getting paid time and a half but I'm not really complaining. Two days off is enough. I'm all congested. BAH.
