So when the entries last left off I was on my way to Provincetown on the journey back to New York. Provincetown was of course beautiful with its lighthouses and sunsets and beautiful ocean shore. Combine that with tons of gays, happy families and great shopping and you've got just about the best escape you could ever wish for. It was great to be with the family all together again and finish the last Harry Potter book. Where did the time go? How is that series over. Sadness.
The time back in New York was short lived, however, as Jim and Jeff invited me out their PA house on Lake Sunshine. Just more gorgeous to take in. Jim was away most of the weekend for a high school reunion so Jeff and I drank, slept in, took in the sun by the lake and swam. It was relaxing yet crazy with his one set of neighbors who like to engage in threesomes with gay boys (I was totally hit on like crazy) and the other set of neighbors who have the most dysfunctional marriage ever and the husband is totally gay. What is wrong with people in the country? Haha. They are supposed to be nature loving and chill! It was fun though and we had some great laughs about it all. Especially the part when all of us engaged in tequila shots (Patron!) and then talked politics. Conflict to be had talking politics slightly drunk when only one couple is conservative and everyone else is pretty liberal. Yikes! Mind you, the conservative couple likes to have threesomes with gay boys? I don't get it. So fucked.
Back to the city last week for auditions. First up was the Palace Theatre in Manchester. I got a callback to dance and felt good about it. They should be casting this week so fingers crossed. Wednesday I had my first Broadway audition for "In the Heights". Everyone around me seemed to be freaking out which I think prompted me to become relaxed. They made us go acapella for our song which I actually like because it gives you a lot of freedom. The audition was my first time at Telsey (they cast tons of Broadway) and I saw so many people that made me excited like Marc Kudisch, Hunter Foster, Krysta Rodriguez and some of the Spring Awakening kids coming out of auditions. I seemed to be the only dork not buried in their songbook, so I feel like I was the only one who saw anything. The audition went REALLY well and the casting person said "wow". I've never really gotten a "wow" before so I took that as a good sign. She then asked if they have ever seen me in there before and I said no. She then asked if they had ever seen me for RENT to which I also replied no. She then emphatically put my resume in a pile and thanked me very much for coming out that day. Let's just hope that one day, even if down the road, that the good audition leads to a phone call or something!
What else has been up. Oh yes, I was awakened yesterday morning to a woman screaming her head off at almost 6am in the morning outside my window. She was getting the SHIT beat out of her by a guy. I almost went for my phone to dial 911 but before I knew it she was thrown into a car by the asshole and it sped off. I really hope he didn't kill her or something because what was happening was terrible. Abuse is terrifying.
I've also been going through a lot of the crap in my room and was able to throw out an entire bag full of stuff I thought I had needed. Riiiight. It felt so great going through old keepsakes and pictures. College really is beginning to feel like a lifetime ago already. I hate it.
Temp work continues in spurts. Just got a paycheck but also haven't gotten work for a couple days. Hoping Broadway.com's reorganization process results with me getting a phone call! Jeff says my resume is at the top so hopefully that leads to an opportunity.
This entry is getting long. Been spending a lot of time watching movies. Saw The Simpsons Movie (loved it), Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (also awesome) and Sicko (which I thought was Michael Moore's best work and didn't take any huge political side really. It was well shot and I loved the interviews. Also made me not that proud to be American though). I have an appointment on Wednesday for the Seussical Theatreworks National Tour!
Lots in the mix. Here's to hoping some of the mix un-mixes.
