rip ryan caliendo

A very close friend of my mom's family and my aunt's partner's son Ryan Caliendo committed suicide earlier this week. He will be missed by many of us. When I stood on stage this week performing in All Shook Up the hopeful lyrics of "If I Can Dream" seemed such a stark contrast to the despair and shocking conclusion one must reach in Ryan's situation. It is all very sad. Rest in peace Ryan. You were such a genuinely nice person.

"There must be lights burning brighter somewhere
Got to be birds flying higher in a sky more blue
If I can dream of a better land
Where all my brothers walk hand in hand
Tell me why, oh why, oh why cant my dream come true

There must be peace and understanding sometime
Strong winds of promise that will blow away
All the doubt and fear
If I can dream of a warmer sun
Where hope keeps shining on everyone
Tell me why, oh why, oh why wont that sun appear

Were lost in a cloud
With too much rain
Were trapped in a world
That's troubled with pain
But as long as a man
Has the strength to dream
He can redeem his soul and fly

Deep in my heart there's a trembling question
Still I am sure that the answer gonna come somehow
Out there in the dark, there's a beckoning candle
And while I can think, while I can talk
While I can stand, while I can walk
While I can dream, please let my dream
Come true, right now
Let it come true right now
Oh yeah"

Last two performances of All Shook Up tonight and tomorrow. I think I can say it's been the greatest cast I've worked with so far. Everyone always just giving their all showing nothing but love out there on that stage. To two more great shows!
