Hello there,
I am writing to express inform you of my unsatisfactory shopping experience I had this morning. Now, I have grown up in Rochester, NY. Wegmans has been a part of my life for almost as long as I can remember. When I moved to Buffalo to attend graduate school, I always stayed loyal to Wegmans. By far, the stores are always the most pleasant, and the selection is always the widest.
So that being said, let me continue. I woke up early this morning, around 7a.m. in order to get all my errands done today. First thing on my to-do list was to get all my groceries. As I mentioned before, I am in graduate school, as you may know or have heard, those in graduate school do not have much free time. It has been a few weeks since I was last able to go. I was purchasing everything that I needed and as always, I found everything, exactly where it should be. It was a very pleasant trip until I got to the cash register, where this nice young man informed me that there was some imprudent rule about alcohol purchases, mainly being that they were not allowed before 8am.
I do not know where this policy came from, nor do I know why it exists. All I know is that it made me extraordinarily angry. I cannot fathom why a store would restrict the hours that it can sell a product. I asked the cashier if, at training, he was informed of why this restriction existed. He did not know.
I cannot express the frustration that this caused for me. There are already enough restrictions on alcohol purchases that seem more than overly conservative. As we know, one must be 21 in New York State to purchase alcohol. In addition to complying with this law, Wegmans has gone above and beyond by instituting a policy where every single person, and their companions, purchasing alcohol is proofed for ID. These are all good restrictions in order to be compliant with the law. There is no reason to further restrict customers.
I was extremely upset that I was not able to fully complete my grocery shopping. I will tell you that I will not be going back. There are other stores in close proximity at which I can do my grocery shopping, in fact, all of my grocery shopping, not just most of it.

p.s. the part about not going back is a complete lie, i just told them that, i will of course...the man wins again
