The art I produce is about taking expectations, whether they are for what a painting should be or what a well done cast mold looks like, and turning them on their head. My work is largely about negation, and somewhat about finding beauty in unexpected places. The art-making process I employ is fluid, constantly changing, some would say arbitrary. My choices in painting and sculpting often emerge from a primal, less conscious part of my mind that knows no rules and sticks to no strict method, but instead lovingly strays from beaten paths. It is the part of my mind that drives pleasure from disobedience.
The collage is about taking actual material from life, which places the work in real life, rather than in still life.
