Jazz soloists do well at state
The City High and West High jazz bands saw five members named as outstanding soloists Tuesday at the Iowa Jazz Championships in Des Moines.
City High senior bassist Nic Coffman was one of four students in Class 4A named an outstanding performer. She helped lead City High to a fourth-place finish in the team standings, behind Sioux City North, West Des Moines Valley and Linn-Mar. West did not place in the top eight schools in Class 4A.
