the sad thing is, I never got to experience the 80's to the full potential: the only things I remember were Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and one very badass black button down shirt with geometric shapes in all the colors of the rainbow. ahhhhh, but the music is where the true glory lies. three words for all of you: Big Audio Dynamite.

I have decided to become more cultured, as I can't remember the last book I read for fun. so I plan to go to lectures, film festivals, small time concerts, first thursdays, and read a lot. my book list so far:

the stranger by albert camus
pale fire by vladmir nabokov
metamorphosis by franz kafka
for whom the bell tolls by ernest hemmingway
a short history of nearly everything by bill bryson
about a boy by nicholas hornby

it's a short list, so please feel free to suggest more. movies and music too!

I can't decide whether I hate or I like valentine's day. I can't remember anything about previous years. but I like chocolate, so I'm going to lean towards liking it.

this weekend will be interesting. I am at a debate tournament friday and saturday, which is fine, but very time consuming. however, sunday holds nothing but wonderful glory for me. I am finally going to see the wonderful piece of cinema that is known as "you got served!". I tremble in anticipation.
