Bill Looks to Add Stipulations to State's Abortion Laws

Rep. Lance Kinzer has again introduced abortion legislation to strengthen the state’s abortion laws, he announced Monday.

Last year the Olathe Republican introduced a bill, dubbed the Comprehensive Abortion Reform Act (CARA). It passed through the House and Senate, but was vetoed by Gov. Kathleen Sebelius. An attempt to override Sebelius fell two votes short in the Senate.

Kinzer’s latest bill would require that a woman receiving an abortion be shown and provided with a copy of a sonogram 30 minutes before the procedure. It also would require clinics to allow the woman to hear the fetal heartbeat.

Because, obviously, women are too stupid to realize that when they're getting an abortion they're...getting an abortion.

Also:

The bill also stipulates women be given a list where they can receive free sonograms and free counseling and a list of prenatal hospice locations 24 hours before the procedure. It mandates that anti-coercion signs be posted in the state’s abortion clinics. And it would require the state to create an informational video depicting fetal development using ultrasound images in two-week increments and posted online.

It's quite likely those places that give free sonograms and free counseling are the so called "Crisis Pregnancy" Centers run by anti-choicers who try to guilt and coerce women into the decision to continue a pregnancy, in addition to giving them no or inaccurate information about abortion, contraception, etc.
