in which he sees his grandma again.

Last night I dreamed of my grandmother. It was good to see her again. We were in the kitchen at her home. She was cooking a fantastic feast for the family reunion going on around us and down on her property. Dishes were piled in the sink, and I needed to wash my hands, so I pitched in to help with those. She was busy and focused - but still stopped to give me a hug and a smile when I walked in. We joked and she laughed as I did the dishes and she hovered over the stove, mixing and stirring and dancing out the flavors of years of practice.

I love that woman. Everyone who ever met or talked to her loved that woman, so I'm sure that phrase isn't unique.

Today is my day off, so I'm cleaning the house a bit and reading the new Stephen King novel that I got for Christmas. It's pretty good so far - the book, not the cleaning - but I'm probably a bit biased. He's one of my favorite authors. For those of you who may not have heard, last week I got my state certification for substitute teaching. Which means I can now begin applying at different districts around the city. I'm nervous/excited, which is to be expected, I think. It may not seem like a lot, but it's quite a significant step for me. My ultimate goal is to actually become a full time teacher - but, as I have no classroom experience, I figured this would be a good try-out, as it were. So we'll see how it goes.
