What is the Young Numismatists (YN) Program?
The Florida United Numismatists (F.U.N.) Young Numismatists (Y/N) Program has developed into one of the best in the country. The purpose of the YN program is to nurture those children through young adults in the hobby of numismatics. Tony Bonaro, is the Director of Youth Activities, for Florida United Numismatists. Tony, does an outstanding job educating our youth in the art of coin collecting.
In addition to teaching F.U.N.'s Young Numismatic classes, Mr. Bonaro also works with Boy Scouts And Girl Scouts Of America. F.U.N. sponsors an afternoon session for the Boy Scouts & Girl Scouts Of America helping to assist them in earning their Merit Badge and Girl Scouts to earn their Fun with Money Patch. You may read more about that program here
Each and every YN who attends FUN's program receives a bag of "Numismatic Goodies" all of which are donated by our dealers and exhibitors. Our YNs can expect numismatic games, contests, education and auctions at each session. At the auctions, they are given FUN Money to bid with and are able to keep what ever they are successful in purchasing at the auction. Every YN who attends the program will also receive a boxed lunch compliments of FUN. Parents may purchase a boxed lunch if enough are available.

Tony Bonaro, FUN Director of Youth Activities talked with FUN Convention TV about the many things the F.U.N show has to offer it's Young Numismatists at each convention and how they can win a trip to the
ANA Summer Seminar.
I would really like to see some of our YNs compete for the 2013 FUN Summer Seminars Scholarship this January. The Summer Seminars conducted by the ANA in Colorado Springs each Summer are a “one of kind” experience for our Young Numismatists. It is an outstanding opportunity to meet and befriend other YNs from all over the country.
Are you active in your local coin club? Scholarships are awarded on a merit basis. Successful applicants will need to demonstrate their involvement, leadership and accomplishments in numismatics, as well as a desire to learn more about the hobby. Recommendations from other numismatists are also required.
So, tell us about yourself and your club. What numismatic projects are you involved in now? What do you enjoy most about the hobby? Why do you think you should be chosen to spend your 2013 Summer with the wonderful educational instructors of the ANA Summer Seminar?

Congratulations! Zachary Lauer
YN Summer Seminar Winner
F.U.N congratulates "Zachary Lauer" 2012 YN Summer Seminar winner. Zach is a member of the Central Florida Coin Club and regularly participates in the Young Numismatists events held during each FUN Convention. In fact, his exhibit Different Ways of Collecting Morgan Dollars
won First Place in the Y/N Division at the FUN show in January. We hope to see more exhibits from Mr. Lauer in the future.
Florida United Numismatists presented Zach with his F.U.N. scholarship which includes, airfare to Colorado Springs, Colorado, and room, and board on the campus of Colorado College. Zach will attend the
American Numismatic Associations Summer Seminars.
The ANA Summer Seminars are quite popular with young numismatists as they provide an in depth education on the numismatic hobby. Young Numismatists from all over the United States take part in these enlightening classes, to learn more about the art of coin collecting, often referred to as the hobby of Kings. The courses Zach chooses will help further develop his passion for the hobby and benefit him in his numismatic future. We are proud to have Zachary Lauer represent Florida United Numismatists this summer and look forward to his dissertation on this program upon his return.
