The Greater Jacksonville Coin Club is North Florida’s oldest and largest such organization. Members have a wide interest in U.S., foreign and ancient coins as well as tokens, currency, medals and other forms of exonumia.

Greater Jacksonville Coin Club

The Greater Jacksonville Coin Club is an educational organization dedicated to informing the general public of the North Florida region about numismatics and promoting all facets of the hobbies of coin, currency, medal and token collecting. The club is open to all members of the general public of good character who share the interests of the club.

The Club consists of over 200 members including many juniors and spouses. Monthly meetings are held on the SECOND MONDAY of each month starting at 7 pm. An auction is usually held at the end of each meeting.

A club that plays together stays together. As mentioned above The Greater Jacksonville Coin Club has over 200 members. Their meetings are highly attended as are their group activities. Twice a year the club takes advantage of FUN's financial assistance and Get's On The FUN Bus to attend FUN's coin shows.

Be sure to ask about special show prices. And if you haven't already watched the video interviews FUN Convention TV did with Randy you should certainly do so ASAP! Talk To A Professional Coin Grader can be viewed Here Learn why it is important to have your coins graded and slabbed.

Reasons to Slab Your Coins with One of the Four Major Grading Services

1. Guaranteed Authenticity.

2. Guaranteed Market Grading

3. Easier to Liquidate.

4. Better protection against corrosion, PVC contamination, salty air, environmental damage, album slide marks, etc. - - - Most coin holders and albums used in the 1950’s, 1960’s and the 1970’s actually damaged the coins contained in those holders!

5. Others won’t be able to clean your coins after you die. Future collectors will get to enjoy your coins in the same grade you did!

6. Slabbed coins are easier to inventory (certificate #’s) and easier to claim if coins are stolen.

Show Report
I had the pleasure of corresponding with new FUN Board member Mr. Gary Braisted. Gary traveled to Jacksonville for the Jazz Festival. However, the numismatist in him just couldn't resist dropping by the GJCC coin show.

Gary's Observations The weather was ominous at best with the pending storm off the coast. While the rain may have slowed things down for a bit, my conversations with dealers were all favorable. Jacksonville Coin Club definitely had a good number of volunteers working the show. I ran into quite a few members that I recognized from the FUN show. It's always nice to see FUN friends at other shows. Tony Bonaro (FUN's Director Of Youth Activities) who is a member of GJCC was acting instructor for all the Young Numismatists activities during the show. Y/N attendance was high and by the looks of things it appeared that a FUN Time was had by all the kids.

A Message From GJCC President Matt Adams

From Matt Adams I want to thank everyone who helped out in anyway at the Greater Jacksonville Coin Show this year. Everyone made a good effort and overall it seemed to go smoothly. Not counting the 72 dealers (with over 100 tables) we had almost 1,300 people attend the show. Which was almost exactly what we had last year.

The Attendance Breakdown was as follows:
Friday 450
Saturday almost 600
Sunday 251

Our Kids Program run by Tony Bonaro had 90 attendees on Saturday with 78 Boy Scouts, 2 Girl Scouts as well as 10 other kids. Our membership picked up ten new adults and four YNs, we look forward to welcoming them at our next meeting. Our current membership is at a healthy 218 at the moment. The Show was a lot of work but well worth the effort. We wish to thank all the Dealers for their participation. Please offer your suggestions and observations so we can do even better at our next Show in the comment section below.
