And now for MY report of the World's Fair Of Money! Okay, so technically I wasn't physically there. There was quite a buzz on the convention floor about what the U.S. Mint was offering. Dealers and show attendees lined up to wait for their chance to buy the American Buffalo Gold Proof Coin and American Eagle Gold and Silver Coins
The Mint sold the following coins at their booth:
2013 American Buffalo Gold Reverse Proof Coin - Celebrates the 100-year anniversary of the original design appearing on the Type I Buffalo nickel.
2013 American Eagle Platinum Proof Coin - The fifth coin in the American Eagle Platinum Proof Coin Program: Preamble Series has a reverse design reflecting the fifth principle of the preamble to the U.S. Constitution, "To Promote the General Welfare."
The B.E.P offered everyone a glimpse of the New $100 bill in the display at their booth.
ANA @ANACoins shared all the cool free items being given away to dealers. Take a look at their InstaGram Account
PCGS displayed Nova Constellatio Coins at their booth.
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation @NGCcoin shared photos of the coins on display at their booth
Legend Numismatics @LegendNumis displayed the world famous 1894-S Barber Dime at their table #323 and tweeted an invite to everyone to drop on by at check it out
August 15th The Reeded Edge, Inc @reedededge shared their perspective of the Worlds Fair Of Money in their Show Report
COINage Magazine @coinagemag shared photographs of Incuse coinage of Sicily & Magna Graecia They also snapped the picture of Cindy, Bob & Tony that I used in the World's Fair Of Money banner posted above. Appreciate all the photo sharing. ♥
On 8/13, 8/14, 8/17, 8/20 I was busy tweeting with New Twitter pals @TheCoinShow. They were producing a LIVE PodCast from the bourse floor dedicated to coins, coin collecting, and the people who love them
On August 14th WGN TV shared an interview with Money Museum Curator Doug Mudd. You can view the video interview on their website here
August 14th was a busy day! Kitco News Global News Editor, Debbie Carlson @DCarlsonKitco and I were tweeting to each other about her plans to walk the bourse floor. On August 16th she made it by F.U.N's booth. @FUN_Convention nice to have met Tony & the crew @ Fun! Have a good show in Jan!
Ms. Carlson wrote an article for Forbes Magazine about her experience entitled FOCUS: Numismatic Coin Collecting Interest Revived With Gold Price Drop
Debbie also wrote U.S. Mint: On Track To Set New Sales Record For American Eagle Silver Bullion Coins which also appeared on Forbes Magazine's website.
On August 17th PENNSYLVANIA ASSOCIATION OF NUMISMATISTS @pancoinsPAN shared a
360 degree panorama view of the bourse floor before the public entered.
So yeah, while I wasn't physically strolling the bourse floor. I lived vicariously through F.U.N's Twitter "friends" and of course, Bob, Cindy & Tony too. Thanks everyone!

Dealers upbeat at ANA
Though business at this year’s American Numismatic Association convention was not at record-setting levels of two year’s ago, the last time it was in the Chicago suburb of Rosemont, Ill., dealers on the whole were upbeat about their results. - “I deal in foreign coins and it was very good,” said Ken Ferguson of Austin, Texas, sitting behind a case of gold coins. Ferguson noted that it was “the first good show in six months. The last good show was the FUN show. The market slowed down because of metals dropping.” Continue Reading Here
