“Are you sure it’ll work?” Kibum asked.
“That man will come out when you’re alone. I’m sure of it, because if you’re with me, he won’t have a chance to kill you”
“But, hyung, I-”
“Don’t worry, I promised you that I’d protect you, right? Trust me, it will work,” Jinki persuaded him, and eventually, Kibum agreed with Jinki’s plan.
“This plan will start tomorrow,” Jinki said.
The next morning, just like what Jinki said yesterday, he didn’t go to Kibum’s house like usual, but Kibum trusted Jinki, and he knew that Jinki was somewhere near him. He walked to school alone, and even though he knew that Jinki was nearby, he still felt lonely. ‘(Sigh) I wish Jinki-hyung was here; walking alone to school makes me remember the days before I met him. Argh! It’s too quiet!’ He went to school a little early than usual- Jinki told him to- and he could see that the school was still empty, and when he walked along the street, he just received a few glares and whispers. ‘Maybe he wants me to go earlier than usual, because if I go like usual, I will receive a lot of glares and whispers. He thought this far for me… Thank you, hyung.’ The school continued like usual; he was still shunned and hated and today, he still went to the rooftop, because if he didn’t and that man saw it, he’d be suspicious. But when he got there, there was no sign of Jinki, because he got ‘sick’ so he didn’t ‘come’ to school.
The bell rang, signaling the end of class, but Kibum still stayed at school because he had to clean his classroom. After the classroom was clean enough, he started to go home. On the way to his house, someone covered his mouth and dragged him into an alley. It was that man.
“Finally, that kid left you alone,” he laughed, “Today, I will get my revenge,” but before he could pull out his knife, Jinki came out from his hiding place, and beat him up, and because that man wasn’t prepared for Jinki’s ambush, he was beaten easily, and they dragged him to the police station. After that, Jinki walked Kibum home like usual and promised Kibum that he would pick him up again tomorrow.

Jinki POV
After I walked Kibum to his house, I went home. My house isn’t too far from his house; I just have to walk 5 minutes from his house. Our village is small, so we just have to walk to go somewhere and the air is still fresh unlike in the city.
When I got into my house, I saw that my mother wasn’t home yet. Today, she had to pick my father up from the city; he had a week off from his company, so he could come home to spend his holiday in the village. Are you confused about why I told you my father was working in the city, even though I told Kibum that I moved here because of my father’s job? Alright, I’ll explain it to you. 2 months after we moved to this village, my father was transferred again to Incheon. Actually, he wants us- my mother and me- to move to Incheon with him, but since I’m already registered as a student at St. Angela High School and I’m a senior, we decided that me and my mother would live here while my father would come home to visit us when he had days off.
When he was younger, my grandfather wanted him to run their company, but my father didn’t want to, and he even ran away from home because of that. But my grandfather was a wise person, so he didn’t force my father to run their company, and he let him find his own job himself. But recently, my father tried to persuade me to run my grandfather’s company because since my father was their only child, up until now, my grandfather was still managing his company alone, and now my grandfather and especially my father, wanted me to run their company when I became old enough. Seriously, if he felt guilty to see his dad still working alone, why he didn’t take the offer? It’s not that I didn’t want to, but I felt like my father was too stubborn sometimes.
I went to my room and took a bath, and after that I opened my schoolbag and pulled out my homework; it was mathematics. ‘(sigh) Kibum’s still having a hard time doing mathematics,’ I thought, ‘Oh! I forgot to bring him to the bookstore! We were too focused on catching that man. Maybe he doesn’t have any plans this Sunday. I want to bring him to the bookstore in Seoul city and at the same time, I want to hang out with him. I’m sure his mother never brings him outside this village; heck, I bet his mother never hangs out with him.’
After doing my homework, I went to sleep

I woke up early in the morning. I could smell breakfast from the kitchen, so I got up from my bed and took a bath. After I dressed, I went down and straight to kitchen.
“Morning,” I said.
“Morning, did you sleep well last night, dear?” my mother asked.
“Yes, mom, umm… sorry I didn’t wait for you last night.”
“It’s okay; we came home very late last night.”
“Where’s dad?”
“He just woke up; maybe he’s in the bathroom. Jinki, can you help me prepare the table, please?”
I helped my mother prepare the table. A few minutes later, my father came in. “Morning,” he greeted.
“Morning,” my mother and I said at the same time. My father approached my mother and kissed her forehead. Ah… I’m happy to have a family like this. After that, my father sat in the chair, waiting for the breakfast. I sat to his left and after a few minutes, the breakfast was ready, and my mother sat on the seat to my father’s right, and we began to eat our breakfast.
“Um, dad,” I said, and my father look at me. “Can I borrow your car for this Sunday? I want to go to the bookstore in Seoul city.”
“Sure, you can borrow it. I wouldn’t go anywhere though.”
“Thanks dad.” I actually knew that my father wouldn’t go anywhere when he was on holiday because he always stayed at home with my mother, watching a movie or just cuddling. Sometimes, they even asked me to go out until night came; heck, they even wanted me to spend the night at my friend’s house, so they could spend the day by themselves.
After finishing my breakfast, I went to pick Kibum up. He looked cheerful today. I was wondering about what would make him happy like this.
“Why are you so happy today?” I asked.
“Hm?” he smiled at me. ‘God, he looks pretty when he smiles; makes me want to keep that smile on his face.’ “Because today, I don’t have to spend my day alone like yesterday,” he said, still smiling. I smiled too, holding his hand.
“Oh yeah, Kibum, I want to ask you out this Sunday.”
“Where?”
“To the bookstore in the city, and maybe after that, we can go somewhere fun. How about it?”
“I’d like to, hyung. I’ve never been to the city before.”
“Okay, I’ll pick you up at 9 a.m.” And we headed for school, hand in hand.

Normal POV
Sunday came, and Kibum woke up very early in the morning. He was very happy at the moment; he was going to go to the city with his Jinki-hyung. He took a bath and chose the best clothes he had. He ended up wearing a baby pink shirt, light blue jeans and white sneakers. After that, he went to the kitchen and prepared breakfast for himself and his mother. After the breakfast was ready, he sat on the dining chair and ate alone; it was normal for him because his mother always woke up late, especially when she was drunk.
He glanced at the clock, it was still 8.30 a.m. in the morning; 30 minutes before Jinki came to pick him up. He went back to his room to make sure he had his cell phone and wallet, and he stood in front of a mirror. After he felt that everything was perfect, he went to the living room and waited for Jinki.
At 9 a.m., Jinki came to Kibum’s house. He was wearing a white shirt, black jeans and black sneakers. He knocked on the door, just to be shocked when he saw Kibum, ‘Pretty,’ he thought.
“Are you alright, hyung? Is there something wrong with me?” Kibum asked.
“Oh, no, you look pretty today,” Jinki said. Kibum blushed when he heard this. “So, are you ready?”
“Yes,” and they got into the car. “Is this yours, hyung?”
“No, this is my father’s; I borrowed it for today,” Jinki said as he opened the passenger door, letting Kibum go in, and Jinki closed the door and went over to the driver’s seat.
Their village was not too far from Seoul. Heck, they didn’t even need to use a car to go to Seoul, but Jinki wanted to make it special because today, he wanted to bring Kibum to explore the city. They went to the bookstore first, and Jinki helped Kibum find a book about the mathematics formula and how to use it. There were a lot of those books, so they had to find a book in which Kibum would be able to understand the contents without Jinki’s help. They went to every bookstore, until at this one bookstore, they found the book. Feeling tired after searching for the book, they decided to rest and eat at one of the best restaurant in Seoul, K.S Restaurant. They walked in and sat near the window.
The waitress approached them. “Here is the menu, sir. When you know what you want to order, you can call me,” she said, handing them two menu books, and left them. They looked at the book. Kibum looked shocked when he saw the price; the food was expensive.
“Hyung, this is-”
“Shh… it’s okay. It’s my treat.”
“But hyung, we-”
“Just order what you want to eat. I want to make you happy,” Jinki said and smiled at Kibum. Kibum felt touched by Jinki’s words, and obediently ordered his food. Actually, the food price was normal, but Kibum never went to restaurant before, and he rarely even went to the cafeteria in the school; he always brought food from his house- his mother never knew about it- if he had some food in his house, and when his mother was still asleep or didn’t come back home. After they decided what they wanted to order, they called the waitress over and told her their order. After a few minutes, their orders came, they ate in silence. After they finished, they paid and left the restaurant.
They went to the car and Jinki said, “Where do you want to go now?”
“Eh? I thought we were just going to the bookstore, then home afterwards.”
“No, where do you want to go?”
“Um… I don’t know, you decide.”
“Ok then,” he started the machine and drove away from the restaurant. After they drove for a few minutes, they drove to a building and parked the car. Then they came out of the car. Kibum looked around and asked, “Where are we?” Jinki didn’t answer his question; he just held his hands and walked into the building. “Game station?” Kibum asked, looking and Jinki. Jinki just smiled and nodded. They went from one game to another, from the dance, car race, basket until the games for children. Kibum was the happiest person in the world at the moment.
“Wait here,” Jinki said.
“Where are you going?” Kibum asked
“Um… toilet? Wait here, okay? I’ll come back,” Jinki said, and left Kibum alone. Kibum sighed and looked for a bench; his legs were really stiff, but he had fun today. After finding a bench, Kibum sat and waited for Jinki. After 10 minutes, Jinki still didn’t come back. ‘Maybe the toilet’s full of people, so Jinki-hyung has to wait; it’s Sunday anyway.’
He continued waiting, and after 20 minutes, he decided to call Jinki, but he didn’t answer. He began to panic. ‘What if Jinki-hyung’s left you?’ a part of him said. ‘No, Jinki-hyung would never leave you. He’s just going to the toilet,’ another part of him said. ‘You just met him a few months ago; why do you trust him so much?’ and when he wanted to get up and find Jinki, there was a big pink, and I mean really big pink teddy bear in front of him, he was shocked until he heard a familiar voice from behind. He turned around and saw Jinki. “Sorry for making you wait too long. I had to collect a lot of tickets in order to get this for you,” he said as he handed him the teddy bear.
“Hyung…”
“I know you feel alone when you’re at home, so I bought this teddy bear to replace me as company when I’m not around.”
Kibum’s eyes were tearing up, but he managed to smile. “Thank you, hyung,” he said as he hugged Jinki, and Jinki-bear- the teddy bear’s name.
After that, they decided to go home because they had to go to school the next day.
