Yesterday we finally got the winterizing done - well, almost done. But it wouldn't have happened at all without the help of some fantastic friends,
bzdchris ,
busman1994 and
choisyleroi . They showed up around 10:30 and after a few minutes of catching up, started to work.
Things Accomplished:
Garage reorganized so both cars and both scooters can park inside all winter
Old freezer stored inside workshop
Pig roaster concrete blocks stacked and tarped
Yard picked up so it will look pretty under snow
Outdoor furniture tarped
Canoes tarped
Hoses brought inside
Basement junk room de-junked (yay shelves!)
Lots of trash staged to go out when the bin is emptier
Winter liners installed in curtains
Weatherstripping at kitchen doors
The girl drove B around to do errands while the boy helped the gang and me with the heavy lifting.
Errands Accomplished:
Dropped of drycleaning
Acquired Thursday's bird (free-range)
Purchased winter wiper fluid, more weather stripping, window sealing tape, more tarps
Purchased and installed new shower head
Stopped by Cub to pick up this week's special - King Crab legs, plus leeks and peppers
As a thank you to the crew, we made a crab salad, served with wine & beer, crudites and dips, and yummy french bread for lunch. The bulk of the work was done by 12:30, lunch happened around 1:30 and by 3:00, B and I were blissfully alone, quietly hanging out on the sofas. Unfortunately, his night was a little stressed out, but by 10:30 he was able to go to sleep pain-free. It was the first time in a week he'd needed the heavy-duty pain killers.
Left for today:
Shrink wrap the windows
Finish the laundry
Clean the kitchen
Pay the bills
Quick run to the grocery for winter root veggies and misc items still required for Thurs. Not so quick, but done
Repair one garage door opener
