B is home & I posted the details in
pint_of_cheer Yesterday, I went to Macy's and managed to procure 2 pairs of jeans. They're both the same Mfr, but I got the black, stonewashed ones in a larger size than the indigo pair. I wore the black ones today, and I'll probably need a belt next week. They'll be fine over longjohns this winter. The blue pair is just snug enough to look and feel good, but not embarassing. I'm wearing the black ones to travel in both Mon & Fri next week. They were on sale for $30 ea, so yay.
Today, I went to Boston Store in Brookfield on the way back from my meeting in Cudahy. I got 2 pair of tights - one a heathered gray, and the other black with embossed polka dots - which should look awesome with my black satin skirt with the embossed polka dots! I also got a new pair of navy knee-highs and chestnut brown leather gloves with a fake fur lining. But the best part was the TWO pair of shoes I scored! First, I got a mary jane styled black wedgie with pintuck detailing over the toe. I wore them all afternoon and they were very comfortable. I believe I'll be wearing them most of next week. Then I got some Pr!vos - a brown (I wanted the blue, but they weren't in my size) semi-athletic shoe with black elastic criss crosses and a sole that looks like it will give me good traction in the snow. These shoes are a more winter-appropriate (though un-lined) version of the comfy shoes I lived in all this summer. I think I'll run by Boston store here in Madison, just to see if they've got the blue. If so, I'll exchange them, but the brown is fine. I really hate the brown Lands' End slip ons I've been wearing for the past 3 winters. They make me feel like I have Frankenstein feet. I had a lovely time shopping. I interacted with 3 different women, and we all helped each other make decisions on what to get, and parted ways feeling good about our decisions.
When I got back to Madison, I stopped in ShopKo to get a new hepa filter & belt for the vacuum, and added in a new luggage set in bright green (all luggage is half price through Friday) and a pack of 3 pair of knitted mens gloves for B and Rupert to share.
I must officially be acclimated now. Even though slush was falling from the sky off and on today, I was actually quite comfortable in my long sleeved tee and leather blazer, with a chiffon scarf wrapped around my neck. I had on jeans and knee-high socks, but no winter underlayers at all. I'm not saying I'd have been comfortable standing around outside for any length of time, but trips from the car to the buildings were fine. Go me.
