Madeline was curled up with her back pressed to Ling's chest, his arm draped over her and her hand resting on top of his. It had been just recently that they had gotten Shen-Li to sleep in his own bed, and when she had laid down for bed that night, Madeline had fallen asleep almost immediately, much to Ling's disappointment

"I know you won't." Madeline scooted closer to them and leaned over to kiss Ling's cheek. "When he gets older, if he's still remembering things like this, we can tell him all about what happened."

"If that's what you wish," Ling murmured tiredly.

"I just don't want him to keep saying things like that, if it upsets us both," she said.

"Why does it keep bothering him?," Ling mused aloud.

Madeline sighed and shook her head. "I never thought he'd be able to remember all that," she whispered. "Maybe it was just a coincidence, that he had that sort of dream..."

"And you've never told him about it before, have you?," Ling asked.

"No," Madeline whispered. "I didn't... didn't want him to think of you that way..."

Ling nodded and reached out to trailed his fingers over Madeline's lips. "I will be with you for the next one, though."

Madeline smiled softly and kissed his fingers. "I know you will be. I don't think anything could stand in the way of you and our next child."

"It's a pity this one seems so intent on staying in our bed. I had hoped to get started on the next one tonight," Ling said, grinning widely.
