Julian was curled up against Nick's side, the two of them laying haphazardly in the treehouse that was quickly becoming too small for both of them. In the back of his mind he realized it was a good thing they had gotten this close, and were able to lay close together

Julian rushed forward and grabbed her hand. "Mom, I don't want you to go." He said. "I haven't gotten to be with you for long and I don't want you to go."

Hohenheim swallowed thickly and put his arm around his son, amazed at how his own feelings were mirrored so perfectly.

"I know, I know," she whispered, "I'm sorry..."

Julian shook his head and buried his face in Izumi's shoulder. "Being strong is too hard. I don't think I can do it."

"Yes, you can," she said, "I know you can. You won't be alone."

Hohenheim reached out to rub Julian's back, nodding though he knew the boy couldn't see it. "That's right. You'll have Nicolas and I, Jules."

"I know, but..." Julian whispered, clutching at Izumi.

"Just know that I love you, both of you," she said, coughing roughly.

"Izumi... Of course we know, bärchen. We could never forget that, could we Jules?" Hohenheim said, and leaned in to press his lips to Izumi's after she had stopped coughing.

Julian nodded weakly and kept his face pressed to Izumi's shoulder, his fingers grasping her shirt tightly.

She trailed her fingers through Julian's hair, obviously stuggling for breath at that point.

"Mommy," Julian whispered, "I love you. I'll miss you..."

Izumi smiled softly at him, unable to speak.
