Madeline sighed and curled up tighter, trying to find some position that would make her feel better. She had been feeling badly all day, her back was killing her, and she hadn't been able to take a nap because of it all. Finally, she gave up on trying to sleep and went downstairs, where she found her sister sitting in the kitchen

Winry dropped her work on the table and and left her workshop, locking the door behind her. "We'd better get up there."

Madeline wiped at her eyes and nodded. "Y-yeah, just now," she whispered. "Will the baby come soon?"

"I'll go put the baby down for her nap," Rosaline said, "I'll be in when I'm done."

Al frowned softly when he saw she'd been crying. "No, probably not. Could be anywhere from a few hours to a whole day. Were you having contractions before your water broke?"

"Alright," Winry said, nodding as she hurried up the stairs.

"I don't think so," Madeline said. "I wasn't feeling good, but I just thought it was normal."

Al furrowed his brow in thought. "Alright, let me just see how far along you are," he said, liting her nightgown out of the way.

Madeline blushed and looked away, her hands fisting in the bedsheet as he moved her nightgown.

"Well, it looks like you've been in labor for awhile already," Al said as he pulled away. "Let me go wash up and then I'll go get some painkillers for you."

Rosaline walked in as Al was leaving. She sat down next to her sister and rubbed her shoulder, trying to comfort her. "What'd he say?"

"That I've been in labor for a little while," Madeline said, relaxing slightly now that Rosaline was there. She was about to ask where her mother was when Winry hurried in, coming to kiss her forehead and sit on her other side.

"Try not to worry, sweetheart," Winry said soothingly. "Everything is going to be just fine."

"Do you want us to stay with you the whole time?," Rosaline asked softly.

"Please?" Madeline asked, nodding at her. "I'm scared..."

"You shouldn't be scared," Rosaline murmured, "Everything will be okay and before long you'll have your baby to hold."
