SURVIVOR...say it with me now...
So, being a reality TV fan...I figured it was about due time I began to ramble on about all the things I love, and hate, about reality TV. Predominantly about Survivor tho I think...I think I'm gonna end up having plenty to say about that.
The most recent season, Survivor: All Stars, I thought, would be shit. I mean, what people, in their right-mind, would RETURN to some stupid island only to end up looking like some malnourished Ethopian child, in hopes of winning some moolah? Being a big "Let's get Viewers" ploy, I figured we'd probably see something completely un-survivor like...Pretty much some ponses living in luxury (well, more luxourious than previous Survivors anyway).
Instead of having Rice, they'd have only a mini-bar to share amongst themselves, and perhaps a bbq for a few sausages and steaks. No waiters for them!
I also thought they'd have stuff like tents, and have little "generators" to keep them comfortable.
But no, I was wrong. It was just like other Survivors. Perhaps even a tad worse. And how stupid are these contestants..? I mean, how did they get these idiots to return?!
I'm really not liking how it's fanning out though. I mean, if Boston Rob gets into the final 2, nobody will vote for him. The jury hates him. And I think that's stupid. I mean, I think everyone hates him. And though everyone (both contestants and viewers alike) keep saying "it's only a game" everyone is taking it personally. Like, the aim is to WIN. And yet, when someone deviously uses tactic and strategy to further themselves everyone gets all "oh no...that's so wrong." Which is just plain stupid in my eyes. It's like...why play if you have no intention of bettering your chances of winning? And who cares if you screw everyone over? That's the point isn't it...to win?
I think in the end, it might be down to Amber and Rob. And thought Rob is my favourite (despite everyone like, hating him), I think if that were to happen, Amber would win. Which is stupid. Like, she hasn't been DIRECTLY devious to anyone (well, not really), but everyone would rather see her win over Rob. And I don't get why. I mean...Rob has been smart. He's plotted and planned, and it may not have been "nice" or "fair" but the game is about winning money, not about winning hearts. He's furthered himself, no matter what. He also had his tribe practically "worshipping" him at one stage. Not only that, but physically, he's kicking arse. But what about Amber? If she wins, THAT would be shit - she has done nothing but jump on the Boston-Rob-Bandwagon and enjoy the ride to the finishline. She was a stupid side-kick in Australia, she's a stupid side-kick in All Stars.
And what is with everyone voting stupidly? Do you guys remember back to the Survivor where Jenna and Rob were facing off in hte final two? She won. Why?! I mean, all she ever did was sit around with Heidi and discuss how "gorgeous" they are. And taunt the sexless boy contestants. And yet, everyone let her win. Stupid bloody jury. I mean, ROB (this is not Boston Rob, this is some other Rob...) like, decieved everyone. Which was so good. And so entertaining. If I were in the jury, I'd be thinking "Who deserves to win? I mean, sure I might be mad that Rob screwed me over...but I gotta admit...he's one smart-cookie. And Jenna? Well...she just lazed about in her bikini. Unintelligent Whore." And even when like, at hte reunion, Jeff asked "Who deserved to Win?" and everyone was like "rob" and yet only ONE person voted for him to win! Are all American complete idiots or do reality TV show casting agents just pick the morons? I think it's the latter. Idiot Casting Agents.
But yes...so annoyed.
Another thing about Survivor I hate is that it's not really surviving at all. Like, if I were to be abandoned on some island someplace, I would only DREAM of having Jeff Probst there to like, give me reward challenges, unlimited rice and a chance to "survive". Only WISH. It wouldn't happen...I'd just die.
I'd like a reality show that's actually REAL! I want to see a bunch of people in a shipwreck, get stranded on some island and have to survive fully on their own. No "winning fire" or "challenges". Just straight-up survival. The winner wouldn't win a damn thing...except some TV-time, which all contestants would share anyway. And the way you win? You're either the last to die, or you escape the island. I guess it would be like a modern-day reality of Gilligan's Island. Sorta. haha. That would be awesome.
But again, they'd probably cast some stupid wankers that don't know what "survival" is all about...and I'd be disappointed once again!
It's un-avoidable disappointment all round...
