Prompt: 11. The last thing Remus sees as he dies is stars (real ones out the window, depiction of them somewhere in Hogwarts, whichever).






Notes:

1. You might want to turn up the brightness on your monitor, as it's rather dark and some subtleties may be lost if there's too much contrast. (That's the trouble with night scenes.)
2. It's never stated if Remus died inside or outside. He was s'posed to lead some people out into the grounds, but maybe this takes place before or after. And having it set inside fit better with the prompt.
3. There's a bit of symbolism in the scene. Around the corner you can just see some battle smoke, a fallen fighter, another person, and a slashed portrait. There's also a crack in the wall and a bloodstain on the wall nearby. All these are meant to foreshadow what's about to come for Remus--death.
4. More symbolism: the moon and the dogstar (the brightest, of course) outside the windows. They're separated by a barrier between the windows, but their souls will soon be reunited. (I do not know if the moon and star would even appear as such when viewing them from Hogwarts, just pretend.)
5. Those two figures in the background--I'm not sure who they are. You can have them be anyone you like, but it felt odd to just have Remus in the scene, as it's a battle after all.
6. Remus. I attempted to make him look older than he is because that's just how the poor guy looks. I also tried to convey a few things in his expression and pose. He's still fighting, but he almost knows he's going to die, as he suddenly sees the stars out of the window. He doesn't want to leave Teddy behind, but he's nearly longing for death, and he will accept it when it comes.

I chose the prompt because it was very picturesque, and as soon as I read it, I had a pretty clear image in my mind, so I hope I did it justice. I admit I procrastinated on it for months, so it's a bit rushed, but I'm okay with the result. Feedback is much appreciated. Enjoy! :)
