After Allison dies, she regresses back to her former self.
It's the only thing she can find comfort in. Scott and Stiles, they were the era of her life she refers to as After Allison. They weren't on her radar until after Allison had come into her life. She wants to go back to the beginning, back to when Allison was still the new girl at school, back to when Scott and Stiles were on the sidelines, in her peripheral vision, not in the center of it. Because that, that she understands. She understand high school and cliques, understands algebra and science, knows how to play herself as a person people love. She understands bitchy comments and scathing looks. This, the wolves, the death, the chaos, the heartbreak. She doesn't understand it. She doesn't want to.
Her father isn't here anymore, and neither is Jackson. If he was, she'd cling to him like a leech, because he's familiar and familiarity is comfort. But he isn't here, and she's at a loss for what to do. Her mother tries to help, alternating from being around so much it's almost suffocating to being almost entirely absent. Lydia knows she's trying, she does, but it doesn't help because that is the exact opposite of normal. All she wants right now is normalcy and no matter what she does or where she looks she can't find it. So, she turns to all she has left: herself. Her former one, to be exact. She slides back into her skin tight dresses, paints makeup on her face like war paint. It makes her feel in control. It makes her feel like she hasn't lost everything. It's the only thing she can find solace in.
