I think it works fine as a one-shot, but it would also do well as a chaptered fic.

I'm glad you liked this piece, which is loosely based around that idea. I think that Remus without his friends (or any close friends) would be more cocky and standoffish (is that even a word?) than he is generally portrayed, in an effort to keep people at a distance.
But, of course, there is no way that Sirius would put up with that. It is inevitable that they would be drawn together no matter what.
Thanks for commenting.

I adore AUs and this is quite good. I wanted to hit Remus upside the head in some parts, but I knew he'd come around eventually.

I suspect Sirius, since he was pretty lonely without the rest of the marauders, might have been watching Remus for quite a long time.
I don't know if I will ever get around to doing an extended version of this one, but if I do I will be sure to post it here.

Anyways, I loved this one-shot. They have great personalities that are just this little bit different from how they're usually portrayed to make them exciting and mysterious.
I caught myself thinking that this would be a great chaptered-fic, but I'm not so sure anymore. Not that I wouldn't love it, it's just that I liked the gaps in this one-shot because they were intriguing and I can spend hours on filling them myself. You've given us just too little information to be fascinated and wanting to know more but you've given us enough information to let our imaginations take over. Hmm.. would Lily be in Ravenclaw with Remus? Haha, you can see: I'd definitely read (and most probably love) the chaptered version of this, but I guess you're pretty busy already. :D

Still not decided whether this will be extended on at any point. Like you, I like the idea of leaving some things to the imagination of the readers. I am toying (very vaguely) with the idea of writing the story again from Sirius's point of view as another one shot for one of the other prompts on the table ("Alone" is rather crying out to be used for that this morning). But it is only a vague idea at the moment.
And yes, very busy with fics at the moment. Got a contest entry to write for one forum, Once in a Blue Moon to finish (about eight chapters to write now) and I must get back to the other two chaptered fics that I have on hold, too.

Regarding the timescale - each part was meant to be a couple of months after the previous one. So the first part would have been at the start of the year, the second in early November, the third at Christmas and the final one in February/March.
I don't think that they would actually have been in love at the end of the story. Though I think that perhaps Sirius might have realised that he was certainly heading in that direction. Remus's own comments about soppy declarations of love were more of a sarcastic nature than anything else. So, instead of friends who became attracted to each other and fell in love - in this fic it is strangers who act on their mutual attraction and eventually become friends...with love perhaps coming later on. If that makes sense.
