I really love this! They were both so cocky, and you don't often see Remus that way. I also like how neither one of them were in Gryffindor, not just Sirius or Remus.

I think it works fine as a one-shot, but it would also do well as a chaptered fic.

I have had a fic in my mind for more than a year where all the marauders are in separate houses - only James in Gryffindor and Peter in Hufflepuff. But unfortunately lack of time means it is only ever at the back of my mind.

I'm glad you liked this piece, which is loosely based around that idea. I think that Remus without his friends (or any close friends) would be more cocky and standoffish (is that even a word?) than he is generally portrayed, in an effort to keep people at a distance.

But, of course, there is no way that Sirius would put up with that. It is inevitable that they would be drawn together no matter what.

Thanks for commenting.

Do you even have to ask? Of course I'd want to read the extended version. :)

I adore AUs and this is quite good. I wanted to hit Remus upside the head in some parts, but I knew he'd come around eventually.

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it. I don't know if I ever will do an extended version, though if I do, I promise it will be posted here.

Thanks. I'm glad you liked this different take on Remus.

I suspect Sirius, since he was pretty lonely without the rest of the marauders, might have been watching Remus for quite a long time.

I don't know if I will ever get around to doing an extended version of this one, but if I do I will be sure to post it here.

Ooh, niiice! I was hooked the second I realized that Remus is a Ravenclaw and Sirius a Slytherin. Seems like I'm becoming an AU fan.
Anyways, I loved this one-shot. They have great personalities that are just this little bit different from how they're usually portrayed to make them exciting and mysterious.
I caught myself thinking that this would be a great chaptered-fic, but I'm not so sure anymore. Not that I wouldn't love it, it's just that I liked the gaps in this one-shot because they were intriguing and I can spend hours on filling them myself. You've given us just too little information to be fascinated and wanting to know more but you've given us enough information to let our imaginations take over. Hmm.. would Lily be in Ravenclaw with Remus? Haha, you can see: I'd definitely read (and most probably love) the chaptered version of this, but I guess you're pretty busy already. :D

Thanks. Glad you liked the idea of the two of them being in a house other than Gryffindor.

Still not decided whether this will be extended on at any point. Like you, I like the idea of leaving some things to the imagination of the readers. I am toying (very vaguely) with the idea of writing the story again from Sirius's point of view as another one shot for one of the other prompts on the table ("Alone" is rather crying out to be used for that this morning). But it is only a vague idea at the moment.

And yes, very busy with fics at the moment. Got a contest entry to write for one forum, Once in a Blue Moon to finish (about eight chapters to write now) and I must get back to the other two chaptered fics that I have on hold, too.

yeah, i agree with you. This story is really great and i will definetely bookmark it but i can see you have a lot. Once in a Blue Moon is the only chaptered fic i'm following right now (and with a passion). I absolutely adore it and can't wait for another chapter! thanks for all the amazing stories you've give me and r/s fans!!!

Well, the next chapter is already with my beta for Once in a Blue Moon - but it only went to her this weekend so you might have a little bit of a wait for an update - it was updated this afternoon after all.

i really loved this! i think that it could work as a chaptered fic, delving more into remus' and sirius' lives and classes and more about their thoughts about love. see how they end up together after hogwarts. maybe if they meet lily and james. this story is really cute and i liked it, but i thought that the pace seemed a bit off. Were they really in love with each other that fast or was there a longer time distance between the christmas sirius ran away from home and when they talked later? it works though. good job!

Thanks. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Regarding the timescale - each part was meant to be a couple of months after the previous one. So the first part would have been at the start of the year, the second in early November, the third at Christmas and the final one in February/March.

I don't think that they would actually have been in love at the end of the story. Though I think that perhaps Sirius might have realised that he was certainly heading in that direction. Remus's own comments about soppy declarations of love were more of a sarcastic nature than anything else. So, instead of friends who became attracted to each other and fell in love - in this fic it is strangers who act on their mutual attraction and eventually become friends...with love perhaps coming later on. If that makes sense.
