Okay, so

So yesterday was Chelsea's birthday party, and I finally got to meet Chelsea's trans-mommy (her term), Safrina.

Safrina creeps the living shit out of me. She comes off as reasonably normal... until she gets started on how in a past life, she and Chelsea were male lovers and she allowed Chelsea to get stoned to death. And how she and Chelsea are destined to be together for always. She goes on and on about how when she was 12 she was a girl and was force-masculinised by her father, and how back then she was only 5'1'' and would have stayed that way if not for him.

Um, what? You're honestly trying to tell me that girls don't go through puberty the same as boys and get taller?

This morning, Safrina caught a plane to Thailand to have the sex change surgery because she can't get one here (she won't say why, but I can make a few guesses). She seems to be under the impression that doing this will make her not be 6 feet tall, middle aged, and balding.

She expects to become Chelsea's lover when she comes back, and to move in with her, into this one room apartment Chelsea has, because her parents won't allow her back after the surgery.

For someone who likes to think she's so good with words, I'm having a hard time conveying just how much this person scares the living shit out of me. Safrina and Chelsea have met all of two times in real life, and Chelsea refers to her as her Mommy, and she wants to be Chelsea's lover. Chelsea, who is, when it comes right down to it, INCREDIBLY damaged and really shouldn't be expected to enter into any kind of serious relationship, and anyone who pays any kind of attention can see that!

I take come comfort that I'm not the only one who finds Safrina and what she wants creepy. Safrina will very happily talk about what she expects to anyone, and Chelsea had a bunch of friends over for her birthday (fact of the matter is, I was the only one there who was comfortable with the gender I was born with, and ended up spending much of the time just listening to conversations because I didn't really have anything to add).

Anyway, when Ashley left, I walked her to her car (I'd decided to book out a little early, and I needed to get back downtown for work anyway), and she told me that she was just as creeped out by Safrina. Aparently, since I've known Chelsea the longest, I have been elected as official spokesperson.

As soon as she's more awake, Chelsea and I are going to be having a chat. I would have done it last night, but it was impossible to get her away from Safrina long enough to have one.
