Yesterday, I resolved to do 5 minute drills daily drills of a different belly dance move. When talking with Katana Bellydance between sets last night at the show I told her of this grand plan of mine, she approved. :)
Today, I have set up my spreadsheet for tracking which moves I've worked on, list 34 level 1 and level 2 American Tribal Style belly dance moves. It'll take me a little more than a month to cycle through the list.
I'm tracking the date, the move, the music, my self love (how well I think I did), and any notes I have for myself.
Obviously the first thing I need is the play list and I had the completely unreasonable goal of a CD worth of roughly 5 minute songs. I think I'm going to call this Volume 1. I have almost 5 hours of music in my belly dance playlist of just songs that range from 4:30 to 5:30 in length.
1. "Grandstand" (4:33) by Beats Antique off of "Blind Threshold".
2. "Caravane" (4:34) by Radar off of "Mystic Groove".
3. "Alchem-Irina" (4:41) by Pete List off of "Songs For Kassar".
4. "Oriental Uno (feat. Fanfara Kalashnikov)" (4:42) by Beats Antique off of "Contraption (EP Vol I )".
5. "Slinky" (5:01) by Drumspyder off of "Bellydance Underground".
6. "Stigmata Martyr" (5:03) by Abney Park off of "The Death Of Tragedy".
7. "Sweet Demure" (5:07) by Beats Antique off of "Collide".
8. "Shashkin (Hefner Remix)" (5:10) by Omar Faruk Tekbilek off of "Mystic Groove".
9. "Marco Polo" (5:19) by Loreena McKennitt off of "The Book of Secrets".
10. "Der Bauch" (5:21) by MC Sultan off of "Mystic Groove".
11. "Runaway" (5:06) by Beats Antique off of "Blind Threshold".
12. "Sahara" (5:21) by bond off of "Shine".
13. "Destination (Saidi) By Bruce Robertson" (5:23) by Gypsy Caravan off of "Re:Markably:Re:Mixed".
14. "Pesnya Tsiganki" (5:33) by Nathaniel Johnstone and the Brazilian Surf Mafia off of "Live at the Columbia City Theater".
Then I actually drilled a move, the Arabic Hip-Twist with 1/4 and 1/2 turns. Sadly, I couldn't remember the cue for the turns. Drat. I could also use more practice with the foot work though it was mostly on the nose. I have this nasty habit of not picking up my left foot on the 2nd beat and it kept creeping back in. Sigh. My self loving for that drill was 2 out 5.
The Belltown Burlesque Revue is coming together fast. It's fully cast and I'm now bringing the crew together. Tonight, after belly dance class, I'm shooting a performer that I hope will be the flyer art for the show.
#5Drill #bellydance 8/14 Arabic Hip Twist-1/4 and 1/2 turn <3<3 Need more practice with foot work and turn cues
Now I should shower and dress so I can do my chores. :)
