"Excuse me, sir, is that _your_ brain on the floor?"

It's days like today that I want to say, "Screw you, hippies, go back to recording it on pen and paper."

No, that's not true. I would not want anyone to do this kind of work by hand.

nesher, geojlc, jeffreycornish, and Jason came up to the house today work on getting the Norwescon laptops ready to go for next weekend's training session. Just when we thought we were getting things moving in the right direction--documentation mapped out in source control, deployed laptop images, the switch up and running, all this stuff--and then we hit the big snag.

The short story is that it looks like the new printers don't want to play nice in a shared environment. Specifically, a user with "User" level permissions cannot sent a document to the printer where as a user with "Administrator" permissions can. To make matters worse, we were seeing lots of funky behavior with the network running everything through my router.

So, we're trying this again tomorrow. Jayson's coming up tomorrow around noon and he's bringing the new VM host machine, a beefy PIII-700 Xeon dual proc with 2gb of memory and a RAID set of drives for the data. We'll load the virtual machine on the new host, host up the network management server (hopefully I'll have that running before Jason gets here) with all of the laptops. geojlc and jeffreycornish will be arriving after church to assist.
