Family; Claude's parents

Ronixis J. Kenni @ timeleaper
Ronixis is Claude's father, the man he respects more than anyone, and one of the last people Claude expected to see as a patient. Because he appeared in the institute from 20 years in the past, Ronixis didn't know Claud was his son. This made the situation even more complicated, as Claude still harbors guilt over what happened between them, and to Ronixis, back in his own time. His highest priority was to keep his dad safe while not giving away the fact they're related. Secretly, he hoped to be able to save his father's future from Claude's own carelessness.

But he never got the chance, because his father was released from the institute sometime between Dayshift 51 and 52. Claude regrets he wasn't able to do a better job in looking after him.

Ilia Silvestri @ avengingfists
Originally, she came to visit Claude in the institute much like his father originally had. Though it was terrible to think she was somehow captured and brainwashed, Claude tried to focus on the fact he was finally able to see his mom again. He wondered if she was happy in this world, as opposed to the one in which she lost both her husband and son. More recently, though, his mother, now 23 years old and slightly different from how he remembered her, appeared in the institute as a patient. Claude's going to have his hands full keeping an eye on her while trying to hide the fact they're related. What's worse is that her captain has already come and gone, but Claude doesn't have the heart to tell her that he was once here. He's just going to have to do his best to make sure she doesn't get brainwashed, too.

Friends; People Claude's cares about

Ashton Anchors @ unluckiest
One of Claude's best friends from before Landel's. He was stunned to discover Ashton didn't remember the fact Claude had wanted to travel with him after their quest to save the universe. Hurt by this, as well as how close he'd grown to Dias in his absence, Claude did his best to keep up happy appearances for Ashton. Unfortunately, by the time he was learning to come to grips with everything, Ashton disappeared from the Institute. (part1of3)

Now Ashton is back again, except this time he no longer remembers what transpired in Landel's before, including his deepened relationship with Dias. Unfortunately, he still doesn't remember the plans he'd made with Claude back on Expel, either. But Claude is glad to see him alive and well, and hopes he'll be able to do a better job of looking after him this time. Although, lately he's been out of touch again, and so Claude is worried something happened to him.

Leon D.S. Geeste @ heraldric
Claude considers Leon the little brother he never had, feeling quite protective toward him. They originally met prior to Landel's, and Claude took him into his group after Leon's parents disappeared. He wishes Leon didn't have to be subjected to Martin Landel's whims, but he's vowed to do his best to keep him safe. Unfortunately, he can't be everywhere at once, and so he hasn't seen him as often as he'd like. They have teamed up for a couple of nightshifts, however, and he was impressed to learn that Leon taught himself how to do Ed's version of alchemy.

Guy Cecil @ razing_phoenix
A man from the planet Auldrant whom Claude met his first day in Landel's; they've since become close friends. Guy's curiosity and good nature draw Claude to him in many ways, as the two rarely run out of things to talk about when they're together. He finds Guy's enthusiasm about technology charming, and enjoys chatting about it with him. During their frequent talks, it's become apparent that something traumatic happened in Guy's past, but Claude doesn't want to push the issue too much. They've promised to be honest with each other, so he understands Guy will open up when he's ready.

The basement disaster left him feeling more aware of how much Guy's presence grounds him, especially since he's one of his only friends in Landel's who has been around since the beginning. Part of him feels responsible for what happened to Guy, and he wants to make sure history doesn't repeat itself.

More recently, Guy lent Claude a lot of support during the aftermath of his "sleep study". This meant a great deal to him.

Anise Tatlin @ gald_digger
A cute girl from Auldrant who's a friend of Guy's. Although he was surprised to learn from Guy that she has a thing for rich men like Luke and Peony, he still thinks it'd be nice if she and Leon could become friends, if only to have people closer to their age to interact with.

After their horrific experiences in the basement, Claude's had a chance to get to know Anise a little better. He admires her courage and strength a lot, and is glad he can consider her a friend. Claude also appreciated her sensitivity while he was blind from his "sleep study". If she ever needed anything, he hopes she would feel comfortable turning to him for support.

He's found out that she's becoming something of a friend to his mother, which he's grateful for and a bit anxious about. Should he tell her about his relation to Ilia...?

Asch the Bloody @ mirrorbirth
Asch was once Claude's roommate (charredashes), but eventually disappeared. When he returned a second (remnantsofflame) and a more recent third time, he had no memories of Claude, but he still considers Asch a friend. Even though he acts gruff, he knows he must have some kind of decent side to him after he went through the trouble to help retrieve Luke from one of the disciplinary labs. Still, Claude knows there's a lot to Asch he doesn't know, as evident by the replica issue between him and Luke, and the way he and Guy behave around each other.

Natalia Luzu Kimlasca-Lanvaldear @ nobleobliged
A princess from Auldrant who is friends with Guy and the others, Natalia is someone Claude took an immediate liking toward. Though her prideful and occasionally overbearing nature can sometimes put him in an awkward spot, he recognizes and appreciates her strength and genuine desire to help those in need. The biggest example of this was when Natalia volunteered to heal his eyes, putting her health at risk by doing so. It was her face he saw first the moment he got his vision back, and he has her to thank for it.

Okita Souji @ notachick
Okita is Guy's polite roommate. Claude met him by chance during one of the arts and crafts shifts, when Okita taught him how to make a paper crane. Guy's well-being seems to be a common interest they share, and Claude considers Okita a friend. He's especially appreciative of the support he offered in the wake of what happened in the basement, and hopes they will have more chances to talk under happier circumstances.

Kagura Sohma @ kagurazuki
A nice young woman who's also the cousin of Claude's former doctor, Dr. Hattori Sohma. Kagura gave Claude a stuffed seahorse and a letter to give to Dr. Sohma, but he disappeared from the Institute before he had a chance to follow through. Claude feels bad for Kagura, and he wants to do what he can to make her life in Landel's a little more bearable. They haven't had a chance to talk lately, but Claude hopes she's managing all right.

Acquaintances; People Claude's met, but is either unsure about or is neutral toward

Matt (Mason) @ gamingsostfu
Claude's new roommate. He doesn't know much about him, but the night after Claude's M-U was probably the most awkward dinner he's had with anyone for awhile. He can't say he appreciates Mason's inability to relate to other people very well, especially after he tried interrogating him about his horrid experiences. Even so, Claude knows it's probably a little early to be making any hasty judgments about him.

Yuffie Kisagri @ thatdamnedninja
A special counseling victim who attacked Claude, Guy and Dias during one of their forays to the basement. Claude knows he shouldn't hold it against her, especially since it wasn't exactly her fault, but he still didn't appreciate her attitude.

Tifa Lockhart @ 36_24_35
A young woman Claude met during the courtyard one day. They seemed to get along well, even if their conversation was short. Later on, she played the piano for him during his blind period, something he thought was a nice gesture.

Cloud Strife @ notthistrain
Their similar names and features gave Claude pause when they met in the hardware store in Doyleton, but he shrugged it off. Cloud seems like an okay person, though Claude sort of wishes he hadn't seen him pickpocket an item.

Shinji Ikari @ sdatislife
A shy boy Claude spoke with during lunch one day. He's glad to hear he has friends who are around.

Haruno Sakura @ see_my_back
After accidentally bumping into her in the Bookworm in Doyleton, things were a little awkward, but they soon discovered they got along decently enough.

Donna Noble @ mateswithnobody
A woman Claude met during lunch a long time ago. She seemed like she had an interesting story behind her, but he never got a chance to learn more.

Dr. Indiana Jones @ its_the_mileage
Claude met Dr. Jones on the bus ride to Doyleton a couple weeks ago and warned him about the dangers of getting caught outside the institute at night. He seemed like a nice man.

Gilbert Beilschmidt @ hat-einen-vogel
Gilbert accompanied Claude's father onto the Calnus the night of Claude's M-U.

Haseo @ feartehreaper
Unable to see Haseo's face during their first meeting, Claude initially thought he was Luke playing a mean trick on him. It soon became obvious that, as much as they sounded alike, he wasn't Luke at all. Needless to say, their conversation was pretty awkward. Recently, he learned that he's the boy Leon often hangs out with.

Himura Kenshin @ degozaruyo
A man he shared lunch with during a time when Claude was feeling anxious about his parents. He seemed nice, but their conversation didn't beyond polite greetings.

Enemies; People Claude wishes were dead

Sync the Tempest @ ran_on_empty
Claude originally mistook Sync for Guy's friend Ion, but came to regret it when the God General took the opportunity to use him in luring Guy into a trap. Thankfully, they managed to survive the encounter with their lives, but not without Sync breaking Guy's arm -- and Claude's nose -- in the process. To this day, Sync continues to harass Claude every chance he gets, often going as far as to lord Claude's blunder over his head, or take potshots at Guy in front of him.

More recently, Sync led Claude, Guy and Dias into the basement under the pretense that he had hostages he was willing to sacrifice unless someone was there to stop him. This ultimately led to the deaths of Guy and Dias, and though they were eventually brought back presumably due to the advanced technology of Landel's, Claude has never forgiven Sync for it.

Needless to say, Claude despises him with a passion, and would kill him if he had the chance.

Martin Landel @ the_head_doctor
The man responsible for everyone's suffering, including the death matches that went on in the basement. Claude's rage for this man knows no bounds, though sometimes the brief glimpses of his humanity make him difficult to think too hard about.

M.I.A.; People from the past who are no longer here

Alkaid (constellates) -- Initially, Claude didn't like Alkaid at all, finding her overly abrasive and more than a little strange. It didn't take them long to figure out they had quite a few things in common, though, and they acted a lot friendlier toward each other after that. Claude was sad to discover she'd disappeared, and still thinks she's missing. (will be moved back up to the main chart again once they've threaded again.)

Cele Chere (lady_general) -- A friend of Dias' who struck Claude as independent and strong. She helped him out during a couple of pinches, most notably the night after Yuffie injured him, as well as the night he went to retrieve Dias and Guy from the morgue.

Dahlia Hawthorne (dahliahasthorns) -- Sync's second "hostage" the night he led Claude, Dias and Guy into the basement. According to Anise, Dahlia was only acting the entire time. Claude doesn't understand what she would have gotten from helping Sync, but it looks like he'll never be able to confront her about it now.

Ed Elric (lost_metal) -- Ed is the boy who helped make Claude his sword, as well as taught Leon how to do his world's version of alchemy, and for that he's eternally grateful. They've only met once, but Claude wanted to see him again, if only to continue expressing his thanks. Giving him a pitcher of juice as repayment just wasn't good enough. Unfortunately, he's long gone now.

Dias Flac (heavens_too_far) -- Although their relationship in Landel's began on rocky terms, Ashton's disappearance brought Claude and Dias closer together than ever before. As Claude's greatest rival and one of his most-trusted allies, Dias' opinion matters a great deal to Claude. That coupled with Dias' brusque matter makes it easy for him to get under Claude's skin sometimes. Other times, there's the strange feeling that Dias can see straight through him. Maybe that's partly why Claude has a tendency to compare himself to Dias and sell himself short; in fact, even though Claude comes from farther into the future than Dias, it hadn't even crossed his mind that he might have already surpassed him in strength or skill -- until he was forced to fight Dias to death in the basement, that is.

Although Claude was glad Dias came back to life after their battle, Claude felt a little cheated that he sacrificed his life so easily. Unfortunately, they never had a chance to reach an understanding between them, as Dias disappeared soon after.

Emmett Cullen (rides_on_top) -- Claude's fourth roommate. They've only spoken once, so Claude didn't get to form an opinion of him one way or another. He seemed like a nice guy, though.

Emperor Peony Upala Malkuth IX (rappigs) -- An emperor from Auldrant, as well as Guy's boss. Claude was always a little intimidated by him, but he started missing him once he was gone.

Cliff Fittir (gotahunch), (hadr0n) -- A man from Claude's universe, although from quite a ways into the future. They only met twice before he mysteriously vanished. For awhile it seemed like he came back again, at least according to a bulletin conversation between him and Claude, but then he disappeared once again.

Fayt Leingod (lineaeterna) -- A smart young man from Claude's universe, apparently from around the same time as Cliff. He knew of Claude and his father, but didn't go into many details.

Hellmaster Phibrizzo (hellmunchkin) -- A seemingly young, helpless boy who Claude "took under his wing" during his first night at Landel's. He never did learn of his true nature, as he, too, eventually vanished.

Jade Curtiss (visualize), (colonel_badass) -- Claude's interactions with Jade from before were brief, but it didn't take long for him to figure out the Colonel has a knack for being weird. Since he's a friend of Guy's, he definitely gives him the benefit of the doubt, but he was always unsure of how to behave around him. Though Jade returned with no memories of his previous time in Landel's, Claude never got any closer to figuring him out before he disappeared once again.

Justy Ueki Tylor (justawaketyor) -- Claude's sixth roommate. Although he was a little on the eccentric side, Claude found him to be quite likable. He was also impressed that Tylor had command of his own vessel at such a young age. Unfortunately, he disappeared after only a couple of nights.

Kagura (16hitmagnum) -- Claude and Kagura first met back when he helped her in her fight against Ophelia in the cafeteria. They spoke on the bulletin after that, and, despite how strange she seems, Claude found himself appreciating her upbeat nature, especially after she took the time to get his mind off of his problems after the zombie invasion.

Luke fon Fabre (replicatedorder) -- Another Auldrantian, apparently some sort of "replica", and Guy's best friend. Claude never got to know him nearly as well as Guy, but they got along well, and he seemed to have more in common with Luke than his former roommate Asch. He disappeared for the first time not long after he suffered a cruel experiment at the hands of the Institute's doctors (radiant_howl), and once more after a brief reappearance, albeit without any memories of Claude (heliokleptic).

More recently, Luke came back a third time, and he and Claude were trying to become reacquainted with one another...until he disappeared again.

Rey Za Burrel (denied_future) -- Claude's fifth roommate. He feels horrible that he had to forsake going to save him from his M-U session because of Sync's old tricks.

River Tam (theycutitout) -- An honorary sister of Dias'. Claude never got to find out much about her, but he knew how much she meant to his rival.

Tear Grants (ofyulia) -- According to Guy, Tear was supposed to "complete the set" of friends he had before Landel's. He was curious to learn that she's a soldier of the Oracle Knights. Unfortunately, she disappeared from Landel's the day after they met, so Claude never got the opportunity to learn more about her.

Takasugi Shinsuke (onefellbeast) -- A man from Kagura's world that Claude tried to carry to safety after his encounter with Ophelia. They've only talked once since then, but Takasugi's charisma drew Claude toward him rather quickly. Not long after, he found out he's an enemy of Okita's, and so now Claude thought it was best to keep his distance for awhile. Eventually, he quit hearing anything about him at all.
