{19} Video Game & Animated Series Graphics
Hey, everyone! Breyzy here. Long time since my last post, huh? O_O; Anyways, mostly a video game and/or animated series-based icon and header dump this time around, with a few variations too. For the headers/banners, just click on the thumbnail to see the full size. I'm also "de-anoning" a Final Fantasy-themed Zodiac Icon set that I did for a challenge over at ff_land. I, uh, realize I know very little about how personality plays into the Zodiac signs, so I'm sure I'm totally off with some of them (but, I tried to leave explanations anyways, lolz!). FINAL FANTASY SERIES ZODIAC ICON EXPLANATIONS
ARIES: I picked Bartz from FFV and the Dissidia games because he's adventurous, ambitious, impulsive, enthusiastic and full of energy: traits that tend to be associated with the Aries sign.
TAURUS: I went with Firion from FFII and the Dissidia games because I think he fits many of the traits that are associated with the Taurus sign: stable, balanced, conservative good, law-abiding citizen, a lover of peace. I think of Firion as a very practical and determined character with a strong will, which also fits for the Taurus sign.
GEMINI: Since Gemini is known as the sign of the Twins, I went with the twins Porom and Palom from FFIV/FFIV: The After Years. The Gemini sign is known for being dual-natured, elusive, complex and contradictory: which are traits that I think fit for Porom and Palom as they have very different personalities from each other, especially in TAY (which is the design version used for the icon).
CANCER: I used Seven from FF Type-0 for the Cancer icon because, according to this site, those of the Cancer sign on the outside "appear formidable - thick-skinned, unemotional, uncompromising, obstinately tenacious, purposeful, energetic, shrewd, intuitive and wise, sometimes with a philosophical profundity of thought verging on inspiration. Their intimates, however, may see a very different character, one with a sympathetic and kindly sensitivity to other people, especially those they love." Seven is known for having very serious and almost intimidating expressions, but she's very kind and good-natured.
LEO: I picked Shantotto from FFXI and the Dissidia games for the Leo sign because the Leo sign is often associated with dominant, spontaneously creative and extroverted traits. Like the characteristics of the Leo sign itself Shantotto is ambitious, courageous, dominant, strong willed, positive, independent, self-confident, and self-controlled. Shantotto showcases the following Leo characteristics: she constantly rejects the status quo, she thinks/acts bigger than others would normally dare, and she thrives on adversity.
VIRGO: I went with Lulu from FFX/FFX-2 for Virgo because the sign is often associated with the following traits: preciseness, refinement, aristocratic attitude of reserve, observant, shrewd, critically inclined, judicious, patient, and practical. I think those traits fit very well for Lulu's character as well.
LIBRA: I picked Balthier from FFXII/FFXII: Revenant Wings for Libra because his personality tends to fit for the traits often associated with the sign: elegance, charm, good taste, he can be surprisingly naturally kind at certain points in the game, a lover of beauty/harmony...and enjoys the pleasures that those traits bring (to the point of possibly being flirtatious). Those under the Libra sign are said to have good critical faculty and are able to stand back and look impartially at matters which call for an impartial judgment to be made on them, which fits for Balthier as well.
SCORPIO: For the Scorpio sign, I went with Qun'mi from FF Type-0 as she showcases the Scorpio traits of being intense, profound, and powerful. Without going too much in to spoilers, another characteristic Qun'mi shares with the Scorpio sign is that her tenacity is immense, yet she is deeply sensitive and easily moved by her emotions (whether to anger or otherwise).
SAGITTARIUS: I picked Ingus from the DS remake of FFIII because, like the rest of the main cast of the game, he shares the following Sagittarius traits: optimistic, ambitious, energetic, versatile, adventurousness, eagerness, and strongly idealistic. The reason I picked Ingus in particular is because he further exemplifies the Sagittarius characteristics of being honorable, honest, modest, loyal, trustworthy, truthful, generous and sincere. He also has a strong a passion for justice and often shows good judgement, which are also traits associated with the Sagittarius sign.
CAPRICORN: I picked Lightning from FFXIII/FFXIII-2 and Dissidia 012 for the Capricorn sign because, according to this site, it is often known for being "one of the most stable and (mostly) serious zodiacal types"...which fits pretty well for how Lightning is often portrayed in comparison to other FF characters. Lightning shares many of the traits often associated with the Capricorn sign: independent, normally confident, strong willed, calm, hardworking, practical, responsible, resourceful, persevering, and cautious to the extreme. As the Capricorn is often considered "the backbone of any company they work for" so is Lightning considered the backbone of the FFXIII cast.
AQUARIUS: I went with Rydia from FFIV/FFIV: TAY for the Aquarius sign because she has a strong personality, like what is often associated with the sign. Rydia's character is a nice combination of the two types often associated with the Aquarius sign as she is sensitive, exuberant, lively, strong willed, forceful, a seeker of truth, and honest. Like Rydia, the Aquarius sign showcases the following traits: humane, frank, serious minded, genial, refined, sometimes ethereal, and idealistic while still practical.
PISCES: I went with Vanille from FFXIII/FFXIII-2 for the Pisces representation as I think she showcases the gentle, patient, and malleable nature that the sign is often associated with. Those under the Pisces sign are known for having generous qualities, being friendly, good natured, kind, compassionate, being sensitive to the feelings of others, and for responding with the utmost sympathy and tact to any suffering they encounter...which are traits that fit for Vanille as well. Like Vanille, according to this site, Pisces are "popular with all kinds of people, partly because their easygoing, affectionate, submissive natures offer no threat or challenge to stronger and more exuberant characters." Vanille also showcases the Piscean traits of existing emotionally and instinctively, as well as a dislike for confinement.
OPHIUCHUS: I picked Hope from FFXIII/FFXIII-2 for the Ophiuchus sign. According to this site, some personality traits associated with those born under the Ophiuchus sign are that the individual is a seeker of peace and wisdom, a doctor of science, an interpreter of dreams, a supervisor of work, has aspirations of healing the ills of man, and likes to wear clothing of vibrant colors. From what I know of Hope's story and character in FFXIII-2, I think those traits fit very well for him.
