This is the log that I use to chop wood on. The top has been whittled down to a small platform that has hardly enough surface area with which to balance a log. This chopping block has been floating around the house for years. I can't even guess how long it's been used to chop wood and make kindling and even hold up a trailer for some time. Why don't I grab a new, sturdy, fat log to use? Well, for one all of the large ones are buried under two feet of snow. I also just love using it. It makes me sad that soon I'll have to replace it. Look at all of the chop marks on it! I even know where to set the logs so they balance properly! It has so much character! I just spent about twenty minutes chopping a huge load of kindling and realized how much I love this log. It's weird, I know. Maybe this summer I'll burn it at a party and relive all of the great memories.
This is a happy feeling. A full log ring, a trash container full of kindling ready to dry, some extra small logs, tons of matches...It's like a full tank of gasoline at the beginning of a road trip. That weird blur in the lower left is Max. It's near impossible to take a picture indoors without it containing a cat.
Gears of War 2 is good stuff. Big TV makes things huge and terrifying. Recipe Slam tonight at the co-op. I'm just going to make guacamole. I know anyone can make guacamole but whatever. The show last night was great stuff.
