Hey, time for an actual update! Things have been pretty busy, and now that it's 2009 maybe things can calm down for a week or two.
BUT NOT LIKELY.
The holidays were great. Jen and I went to stay with her folks on Christmas Eve. I met some of her extended family and had a good time and we opened presents the next morning with the dogs and cats. I was the last one to wake up because sleep was so wonderful, but I guess Christmas is wonderful too. The mood was pretty chill here at the homestead, we spent the rest of the day being pretty lazy. It ceased to feel like a holiday at some point but it was such a pretty day to have off of work and to ourselves.
New Year's eve was pretty fun. We crashed with basically the only people who read this journal save two or three.
I'm rockin' my new bean-bag chair as I type. This was the best gift ever. I FUCKING LOVE IT. I can drag it wherever I want, play games, read in front of the fire, terrorize the cats with the giant black bag beast...it is fantastic. I recently finished reading Cormac McCarthy's The Road while plopped in this thing, and it was great. I can't wait until the movie. Now I've cracked open the tome that is Moby Dick. I recently bought a very extravagant copy from Cornerstone for a great deal. It is the most illustrious book I own.

Where was I?
Priests of Leisure has slowed to a turtle-like crawl. It's not like we're breaking up or anything; I think it's the business of the season combined with writer's block. But it's ok! We are two people who can write and play whenever the hell we want. We really need to get that damned cd released, though. At the very least it'll be free once it gets mastered, but I'd love to see something physical come out of all of this.
New music news, though...I'd been saving it as a surprise as it was only an idea, nay, a possibility at the time, but now has actually happened. Trevor talked to me a while ago about playing drums with him and Larry as Resonator, and we finally played tonight and it was sick-wicked. So even though I feel a little lame about posting this here, I'm just too dog gammed excited at the prospect of drumming for Resonator. We're going to get together next week and record our jams, and if it goes anything like tonight did, we'll have some sweet tunes.
Oh, ps, anyone interested should head over here to
Human Identity Recordings and download old/new Resonator stuff and other things that Larry has recorded. There's Jay Hopkin's j.freedom stuff, old Communion, and soon to be more. There's also Resonator's recent stuff taken from the last recordings with Mikey. It's really great stuff.
So the future holds some good things. Tomorrow is skiing at The New Land Trust, Abram and Leticia if you guys are interested we're probably headed up around dusk (5-ish) and won't be up there for too long (couple of hours). We'd love to have you again. We have a good map this time!!!
Sunday is a trip to Potsdam with my Papa's truck to pick up a couch. It's really a long story about why we're doing this, and really not too interesting so I'll just make one up. This couch belonged to the first wife of King Henry VIII...No, you know what, I can't do this.
Monday night is Yoga with Kim. We decided to do a weekly thing just for the hell of it. I've been wanting to do some actual yoga for a while, but never got around to it, so now's the time.
