I think, therefore I enjoy violent movies --or not

* My first Princess Tutu fic is a crossover with Nils Holgersson. Come on! It was so begging to be written. XD
Also, I haven't forgotten about the ficlets I owe. ;;__;; *fails nevertheless*

* 6 incredible star-shaped forts - They're so preeeetty! *flails*
* La vie en rose on theremin.
* Top ten reasons Geeks make good fathers - Rather amusing, really.
* Drug-dealers vs software developers - fun stuff.
* Found through this blog: Why does still takes so long to publish a book?. Very interesting and proof that I'm either in the right path or following the right blogs. XD

* I was watching Alien vs. Predator 2 with my brother a while ago. The CGI wasn't all that bad, but everything else pretty much sucked. I mean, what's the point of the humans going through all that drama? Were those characters and their --specially within the context of the movie-- silly story put there so we could identify ourselves with them? Well, let me tell you that it wasn't necesary.

For example, I liked the first Predator movie precisely because the only things we know about Arnold Lotsaletters' character are the things we need to know to enjoy the film --which are also the things he needs to survive it (:P): he's in the army and he's badass. Period.

Because, really, having him think of the wife, the kids, the dog, the cat, the canary, and the goldfish that are waiting for him back at home, would've been, in this case, nothing but a recipe for easy drama. It could've happened --and maybe even worked--, though, if Arnold's character were one to go through character development and he needed the memory of his family, for example, to act as a catalyst that would make him suddenly decide he's had enough with the running and he's going start with the killing.

But he doesn't need it! The sort of movie he's in doesn't have to go through boring and obnoxious backstory because self preservation is a perfectly good-enough reason to go fight badass aliens specially when you've been shown to be as badass from the beginning as well, thank you very much. There's also a side dish of revenge for the fallen comrades, but they fell through the movie, so still no backstory needed.

And, thus, Arnold's character goes in, fights his way out, Fújur empathizes with him more than with Stupid-Boy-Who-Wanted-To-Screw-Blond-And-Had-No-Point-In-AvP2's-Plot-And-Still-Was-Sold-As-One-Of-The-Protagonists. I could say that he at least had the decency to sustain an injury before the end but, then again, so did Arnold, therefore it doesn't really count. >.>;;

Finally, about that AvP2 character, I have a theory that includes the word projection, but I'm not going to develop it. XD

* Why isn't there a TvTropes Search Engine for Firefox? D:
