Got a Wii! Wheee!

It's been a dull, gray weekend with on and off sprinkles. No fun to really go outside. No plans for Tokyo as most everyone is a bit financially drained after the Golden Week holidays. A lot of hanging around inside. Not so bad, but after a day of sitting around, watching Arrested Development and then facing the horrible gaming withdrawal of having finished Apollo Justice, thus all the "Phoenix Wright" arc games currently available, the rest of the weekend was looking a bit dire. Especially as I unfairly snapped at Allen after he convinced me to cycle to the nearby store with him. So after dinner and a bottle of wine, we suddenly got it into our heads that we should stop talking about it and just buy a Wii already!

I had long held out because buying a Wii here meant buying a Japanese one capable of only playing Japanese games, thanks to it not being region free like the DS (curses!). But then both of our Japanese is probably high level enough for most games we would play. The only time we would probably face major issues is RPG games, but we'll face that as we get to it. I am still determined to play Twilight Princess. So, nearing midnight, we hop into the car and towards one of the few bastions of late-night stores and bought ourselves a wii, extra controller, extra- nunchucks and a couple of multi-player games. They really get you with those peripherals. I remember once upon a time when consoles came not only with an included game but also two controllers!

As much as I lust for it, Twilight Princess has not yet been purchased. I've told myself I can't buy it until after I take the GRE. I've noticed that I've put no such limitation related to the Japanese Proficiency Exam. Also, the Wii currently resides at Allen's. He has the bigger screen and the more comfortable place. I will eventually be moving into the same town. I have absolutely no will power and would probably play everyday when I got home instead of studying like I'm supposed to.

Wii is fun. It so is. I can't believe we held out so long on buying one. It's also our first major joint purchase. It's a bit like a pet, except you don't have to walk it and clean its litter box, though you do want to send it to the Naughty Corner every time Yoshi in Mario Party kicks your ass.

Back at my place for the week. Trying to get a DS game I've really want to try to work, but for some reason the ROM is faulty, or it might be the Flash. I've tried both the European and US versions at this point and it freezes at the exact same point each time. Going to try the Japanese version next, but I'm going to wait until I have my new electronic dictionary set up.

Oh, and I'm almost bike proficient!
