question about Hitomi no Ounowa/Dear Green

Could someone tell me what the two main characters' full names are? The first time I read the story, I was probably reading fast enough to just gloss some of the confusion. Rereading, I'm realizing just how lost I am at some points, because either the names are changing or dialogue is referring to characters not appearing in the scene. I can't tell ( Read more... )

I went back and checked and I don't have any notation of which scanlation group did which chapter -- in fact, I think I may have downloaded it by chapter, snagging what I could from where I could. And since I tend to strip the intro/scangroup pages (when it's 2008, I figure I don't need the "happy xmas 2003!" anymore) so... I have no idea. I do know the Midori/Yukari confusion actually occurs in the same chapter, at least once -- which is strange. But if it's Yukari, then I shall mentally insert 'Yukari' from now on when reading.

As for names, yes, I'm aware it depends on the people, the relationship, etc, and that each manga may be different, or may be last-name only. I was just curious about why it might be that Otoumi refers to Yukari by first name, while Yukari never calls Otoumi by Kou. Seemed to me it was saying something about the level of intimacy each feels comfortable claiming (or allowing), but I wasn't sure if I was really off on that, or not.

Thing is, I don't mind reading from the Chinese scans -- I never get the names until I've seen them four or five times and realize from context that that's a name. Until then, I just stumble over "emerald cup bring me? what? what's emerald?" and "how do I parse a sentence with a random 'firefly' in the middle of it?"... and then five pages later, I go: ohhhhh. Okay! Gotcha.

Which means I'm very forgiving about Yukari/Midori confusion, it was mostly that I wanted to make sure I wasn't way off-base in proscribing it as name-confusion when maybe it really was a separate character somewhere in there. Hey, it could happen.
