Summary: When Harry is confined to desk duty with magical exhaustion and Draco for bending the rules one time too many, Shacklebolt gets fed up of them cluttering up the Auror office. Instead he enters them in the swimming races at the Wizarding Olympics, a sports event planned to celebrate the opening of Hogwarts’ new Sports Centre. Harry’s a swimming teacher after all - surely it’s the perfect solution?
Will Harry and Draco be able to cope with training together every day for two months without killing each other? Will Kingsley do it for them if they don’t win the races? It’s time to sink or swim...
It's curious how I stumbled upon this little gem. I really enjoyed " The Missing Chapter" by alovelycupoftea @ serpentinelion --- I couldn't help but want more, so I had to stalk check out her lj. Then I read the summary for "Sink or Swim", and for some reason it seemed incredibly familiar. The notes read "this story was taken from an unclaimed prompt from hd_smoochfest 2009", and it finally clicked that I had probably submitted that prompt (#107). I can't believe I just found out about it when it was written for the 2009 H/D Big Bang. It's such an amazing fic too!
The reason behind that prompt: I've always loved swimming, and even as a boy I was rather competitive, but I too went through the whole process of learning the basics and techniques and losing my fear of water. alovelycupoftea captures that so well! Suffice to say I'll be stalking her lj some more = )
