Hey, Yuletide person.
Thank you for being awesome and agreeing to write any of the prompts that I've requested. They're pretty basic and straightforward, I think. And mostly just stuff that needs to exist since the ships/shows are so close to my heart and there's barely a handful (if that) of stories about them, most of which aren't making that an easy thing to deal with. I will read anything. G up through NC-17, you name it. I prefer there to be a strong character to character plot, so the rest is just semantics, but if you focus on one end of the ratings system I definitely won't mind.
Same goes for romance-wise. I know last year I got a pairing that I didn't really intend to write and so I had to gen it up to make things work best for how I was able to write those characters. If you got any of mine by mistake or you're more comfortable writing any of these prompts from a friendship standpoint, I won't die. Just so long as you don't throw another ship in there at the end. Like you're rubbing it in my face or something. That'd be a little much. But otherwise, go for it. I love gen and there's not enough of it out there!
So. My picks and a little bit about each of them:
Justin Suarez and Marc St. James; Ugly Betty
God, these two. I know it's probably kind of incestuous for some people. Or maybe the age might make it kind of difficult. But, I really just ship them like burning. Always have, always will. I'd love to see future!fic (in fact, this is kind of a requirement, since despite loving them a lot, the age difference while still on the show was definitely too great to be kosher even for me. But just so that Justin's out of school/college and things are a little less Chris Hansen, y'know?) Other than that, keeping them as adorable and in sync and perfect together as they were on the show would be my only other general need for these two. Something about how Marc has always been the perfect guy, to Justin? His expectations were unfairly high right out of the gate and even after years of trying to work around that, he's still comparing everyone to his first crush? If it helps to know, I also ship: Daniel/Betty, Hilda/Bobby, Amanda/Matt.
Ensemble; Modern Family
Like I said, there needs to be more gen fic of everything. Especially Modern Family. Anything that resembles an episode would be great, just funny and light-hearted and endearing. I care more about the family's interaction than the plot, since everyday goings-on are usually what take place each week. Phil Dunphy jokes are a definite plus.
Troy Barnes and Annie Edison; Community
I love Annie's crush on Troy. I love that he knows about it. I love that she's seemed to have grown out of it. I love that Troy is the only one to have known the Annie from high school. I love everything about this ship and anything from the basic toolbox of tropes would work fine for me. High school reunion, party games (spin the bottle, seven minutes in heaven, etc), fake dating, having to share a bed, hell it goes on and on. There's not much fic for these two so it could be as generic and simple as possible, so long as it ends with them making out or something, I'm cool. While I don't ship Troy/Abed beyond the general LULZ terms the show does, I would love for that dynamic to be brought up. Annie's jealousy of it? Or fondness for it? Either way. I also ship Jeff/Britta, Shirley/Chang, and Dean/Dalmatians, if that matters.
Morgan Grimes and Alex McHugh; Chuck
I would like to see these two fall for each other. We got the after, but I want the before. I want to know why she gave him her number and when he first called it. It can go on into the future from there, but I'd like to see more than what the show's shown so far and a little bit more after that. Please, please, please keep Casey involved a lot. I know he was off saving the world with Sarah most of the time, but his dynamic is part of what makes Morgan/Alex so adorable. Morgan definitely sees himself as Casey's partner and the more he treats that like two cops who share a patrol car and how inappropriate it would be to date the other guy's daughter, the better. I really like when Morgan tries to be a super spy, too. While I love his goofiness, the earnest attempts at being a good agent and a great partner are really what get me most. So Morgan/Alex with a heaping helping of Morgan/Casey ~*~BFFS/PARTNERS4LYFE~*~ maybe? I ship Chuck/Sarah, Ellie/Awesome, and Jeffster/LULZ, too. In case you want to know.
