Application [PAIXAO]

Character: Ayumu "Osaka" Kasuga
Series: Azumanga Daioh
Version: post-series
Age: 17
Gender: female
Sexuality: straight

Appearance: Osaka's not really anything remarkable to look at. She has dark eyes and straight, dark hair that's not especially long or short. At about five feet tall, she's a bit on the short side, and she's almost completely flat-chested. Clothing-wise, when not in her school uniform, she tends toward long skirts and comfy shoes. Upon arriving in Paixao, she's wearing a long skirt, loafers, a light sweater over a button-up shirt, and a simple sun hat. She speaks with a Kansai accent, although without the language barrier it's basically just "an accent."

Personality: To call Osaka a space case would be the understatement of the century. The trope codifier for Cloud Cuckoolanders, she spends most of her time lost in her own little world, which is a bizarre but happy place filled with non sequiturs and off-the-wall revelations. She's very laid-back and content with her life, and almost nothing makes her angry or upset. Although she struggles with mundane tasks like doing her schoolwork, staying awake in class, and telling fact from fiction, she's an unintentional whiz at puns and trick questions. Basically, she's a person who can function in everyday life, but you're never quite sure if she should be allowed to.

Abilities/Weaponry/Strengths: Osaka has no combat skills or paranormal abilities whatsoever. Her biggest strengths, probably, are her weird outlook and sunny disposition, which have a way of endearing her to people.

Weaknesses: As noted, she has no combat skills or abilities. More to the point, she's terrible at anything that involves physical exertion. She has zero strength, zero flexibility, and frequently loses foot races to a twelve-year-old, so she's even bad at running away. Her school performance is pretty abysmal, too. Actually, when asked, she can't really come up with a single thing she is good at. So yeah. Oh, and she also gets hay fever every spring.

History: Osaka's history is pretty unremarkable. She grew up in the south of Japan; her dad's work shuffled her family around the Kansai region every few years, so she was born in Wakayama prefecture, went to grade school in Kobe and middle school in Osaka before moving to Tokyo. There she enrolled in high school per usual, ready to make a fresh start. Her friends in Osaka had always said she was slow and spacey, but now that she was in Tokyo, she quickly proved that she was ... well, exactly that.

Osaka picked up her nickname pretty shortly, and it stuck so well that before long even the teachers were calling her by it... in her official records. Apart from that, though, her high school experience was fairly normal. She made a bunch of great friends, performed consistently below average, and yet somehow squeaked by come finals week.

After three years of fun - and a lot of hard work - Osaka graduated high school and got accepted into university, along with all her friends. To celebrate, they went as a group to the Magical Land theme park, but Osaka wandered off on a bathroom break and suddenly found herself in Paixao.
