Getting Ready to Go to London

Jun 28, 2008 09:09

I'll be departing for London shortly (well, the bus station, where I'll wait for a couple hours). I'll be there for another two weeks, about, before heading home. While this trip is great so far, I'm definitely feeling the distance from home, friends, and especially the one I love.

A couple days ago it rained while I was walking back. The umbrella was small, but it kept my head dry, so that worked out well. It was definitely worth walking in the rain, too, because as I was walking near a hedge that borders a field, a fox dashed out onto the sidewalk about fifteen feet in front of me, turned and noticed me, then continued across the road. I also saw a large snail with a pretty shell (and another one of those the next day).

The end of the conference was good; I had a great time chatting with some locals who attended the conference and a guy from the University of Rome in the pub until it closed. I made many friends among the attendees, and hope to attend next year in Venice, but only for the one week of the conference instead of the three weeks this trip will be.

Hopefully the place I'm staying in London has good internet.
