A Touch of Conrete Within the Doorway, Without a Sound...

So for about a week there I was going to my old high school's prom. Now? I'm not. My invitation has been taken back. Why you say? So the guy that asked me could take ANOTHER girl. Rude? Hell yes. Miss Manners would have a fucking heart attack and verbally bitch-slap the boy.. all in victorian language. Wouldn't that be a sight to see?

The culprit is none other than my ex, Lee. His girlfriend of two months had left him, and since we were on speaking terms/friends, he asked me. She left him for a chick, bravo-tango-whiskey. It was out of the blue, but hey? Why not. I wanted to go anyway, and was planning on going with Brittany, but this works out even better. Lee offered to pay for everything, including my dress. We talked about colors, places to eat, transportation, and just about everything else. Plans were pretty solid, yes?

Then I get a text message. Lee told me he and his ex got back together. Not the most recent ex, but the girl that cheated on him. Of course. And of COURSE, no sooner than they get back together, she is demanding he take her to prom. He'll talk to her, he assures me. After all, he had already asked me. The product of this talk? He bowed to her command. He must take her, so he will. I'm pissed, because it's fucking RUDE. With this girl, and Lee, it is freaking as solid as Netwon's LAW that they'll break up by then. And then? He'll come to me. Of course. He always does.

But he quips back that they'll still be friends if they break up, so he'll still take her. Oh, so he wants to get smart, aye? I lose it. I had been trying really hard not to talk to him while my temper is flaring, because, oh, does he incur the wrath. All of it. I don't hold back for him like I do everyone else. He's done this too many times to deserve that courtesy. I go off. I tell him have fun with this girl until the guy she cheated on him with gets back from training. (Ya'll get this, yes? That's she's only distracting herself with him until lover boy gets back from military training?) I tell him not to call me again. I tell him I'm done messing around with him, and that if he tries, I'll get a restraining order.

So what does he do? He texts. He calls. (I didn't get online all weekend, but he sends me messages on MySpace and then blocks me. Wah.) I let my little brother answer it. Adrian is the same age as Lee, and has been wanting to get his brotherly licks in ever since we broke up. Lee tries to get Adrian to give me the phone, but of course he doesn't. His messages on MySpace tell me he's blocking me, and never to call HIM again.

What? What? I never initiate contact. He does. When he pisses me off, I don't talk to him. I don't e-mail him. He comes to me after a period, asking how I am, and telling me how he's been, and wanting to be 'friends' until he starts talking to me, and remembering how I am, and then he wants me back. Every time. Then he'll do something to piss me off, and away I send him. Every time he swears he's changed.
Every time I tell him he hasn't.
Every time he vows to prove it.
Only to prove that I am right.
I know him too well.

Sometimes, I wonder if I know him better than he knows himself. He has zero self-awareness. His epiphanies are revelations of common sense. I really wish this would be the last time that I'd hear of him. But I know better. He'll be back.
